search for rings and update

Made some serious progress on the Huber today. Built a cradle to bolt to the plate on the engine stand (Had to do it this way because there was no place to bolt onto on the back side of the engine.) Overall if you include drilling the holes and prep through the past week, took about 16 hours. I have determined today that flux-core is MUCH more pleasant than stick welding. Also removed the other two valves that were stuck. I believe I know someone who can point me in the right direction for valves. As for the pistons, we would prefer to not pull the pistons and run it as-is. However, cylinder 1 is full of rust particles on top of the piston and will need removed. The bore of the engine is 4 1/2 inches and after measuring where they would normally be removed from the bottom, the crank will have to be removed to pull the pistons.

After we remove the pistons, we are assuming the rings will need replaced (we don't even know if they are all still functional or not.) I am assuming the rings will need to be a very specific size due to wear and tear and also from honing. Any suggestions on where to get rings? I remember seeing an ad for aftermarket rings in antique power a few years back, but I cannot find the advertisement.

There is a company that advertises in Gas
Engine Magazine for all kinds of rings. I
don't have a magazine here to look at
though.
