Piston rings

I bought a set of rings for my 13 hp Honda motor for my pressure washer. One ring is chrome and the other is black. I am thinking the chrome face ring goes on top. Any thoughts? Stan

That's where I'd put it. I would check the endgap too.

Are the rings marked as to which side goes up?

No marks, or inside bevel so I guess it makes no difference. Stan

I would put the chrome up.

Word of advice, chrome will not seat well into a glazed cylinder, get a nice cross hatch and remove top ridge.

The only reason I am into the motor. I thought I had it covered up, but water got in somehow. I had to hone it a lot to remove the rusted area, and I have a good cross hatch. It's a good pressure washer, and I wanted to save it. The motor is connected to the pump by belts, which makes it easier to work on. Stan
