Silly observation

I was working late in my shop couple nights ago. It was late, no phones should be ringing so I turned on the CD player with speakers in all four corners up high. I was listening to old rock n roll from the mid seventies up kind of loud. This helps me block out the fog and stay focused on getting the job done. I also can see and feel things from days gone by, kind of allow myself to get lost. I found myself dancing, and singing, singing not to listen to my parents "their to old to really understand". Then I thought about it, most guys my age are Grand parents. Some are Great Grand Parents. WOW, how silly I must have looked! Both of my folks have been gone for awhile now. Man where has the time gone! Cutting edge rebellious rock is now, "classic" Al

Good for you. Enjoy life a little. I have no kids or grandkids of course. Music can set you free atleast for a little while. I dont think it matters your age. Merry Christmas Al

I am a great grandpa at 64 and still want to do the same things as I did when I was twenty, not thinking about the pain the next day :) I do remember crawling under my sisters car in the gravel drive, scooping the snow away and changing the clutch. That week I showed a grandson what bolts to remove, and which ones not to remove to get the fuel pump out of his Chevy 4x4. In the shop with a great concrete floor and an LP salamander blowing.I told him to holler if he needed anything, and went to the house.

Nothing wrong with that! I turn the radio up loud when I am in the shop too. I don't have any neighbors close enough to hear anything.

I do the same thing! As you point out the music brings back fond memories and pushes current frustrations into the background, at least for a while.

ALSO - I occasionally catch a daughter and daughter in law listening to "classic rock" on their various devices. And occasionally even a grandkid (I've got 10 of em!) will choose "old" rock over the current garbage that's alleged to be music.

Play on Al!!!

Guess I am not the only one!! I have a radio a fender mount am/fm cassette that is on 24-7 in the main shop, my big shed I also do a lot in has a Milwaukee job site stereo also on 24-7, Rock and Roll is in my Blood,, I have to watch the dancing in the big shed though as there is a bike path and road/road intersection about 250 feet from the south shed doors,, sometimes tough when a certain song from days gone bye comes on I too drift off for just a few to a more simple and exciting time,, from the later 60's to the 90's there is songs that have a meaning and memory's,, always have Rock playing when I am cooking too, like you it keeps me on task and focused,
cnt

Back when I was learning to weld the guy who owned the shop used to come out to check on me and he would just shake his head. He said he never seen anyone who could dance and sing and still get more work done than most anyone he had ever seen before. Lol.

I once read that if you are not feeling well to ask yourself when you stopped dancing and singing. Works for me although probably looks and sounds silly as i don't do either well! Good to hear I am not the only one.

I understand Al, I am a huge Buddy Holley fan,as you know he was killed coming to Moorhead Minn. across the river from Fargo,N,D. The guys that rode the bus, to Fargo hotel, walked in and asked for rooms next to Buddy And the Big Bopper,The guy behind the desk had to tell them! Booby Vee and the Shadows had never played professonaly, just jammed at one of the band members garage, and the prometer asked them guys to step in, and not one person ever asked for their money back! I have been to Clear Lake Iowa couple of times to the Surf Ballroom, since,They said it was bitter cold that nite! Rock and Roll is here to stay!!

Jon can you tune to WXYG in Salk Rapids "The Goat" Beatles all day today. and 60/70 Rock all the time. Jim

If anyone found my music library on YouTube they would wonder.
Runs the gamut from sixties to seventies country, rock from the seventies and eighties, ACDC, Van Halen, Guns N Roses, etc., European operatic metal, and pagan folk. The better half shakes her head a lot of the time.

Totally OK, Al. I do the same thing when cleaning house ... along with the singing and occassionally breaking into dance. Music has to be loud enough to hear it from the basement to the attic. LOL

Clint Eastwood said in his Playboy Interview some years ago " A lot of people are old before their time because they think old". Keep dancing!

A life long neighbor at his daughters wedding said to me, " How did we get so old so fast?" That was about 10 years ago. We both are about your age according to the music you described.

I am 52 years old and rock n roll will always be in my blood. I am a 50’s thru 70’s music man. When I work in the shed I always have tunes on. Music relaxes me. Kow Farmer Kurt. 🐂👩‍🌾

The tractor shop has old rock and roll on 24-7. My sons truck shop has some modern stuff i cant understand or this other modern stuff they mistakenly call country.

My local rock station has been playing alot Christmas music so I started listening to good old classic rock cds. Last night I was in the shop with KISS cd blaring. I set on the 4020 for for about half an hour reminiscing all the concerts I went to. Never did get a wrench out!

This was the last concert before the rona shut down the concerts.

I turn mine up in the evenings to,,makes me want to get ready for school in the morning...

Starting to think you might be the guy that comes by my place in the middle of the night and turns up the volume on my truck radio.

You have to cut that out, the volume is so loud when I turn the key in the morning it sometimes makes me jump.

Certainly it couldn't have been me.

The same goes for my wife's truck with that Abba CD.
