Guy texted me last night after I cut my phone off. 8:30ish. Said he would be around all day today. Texted him early this morning and asked if I could come around noon? No answer. At 11 the ad changed to SOLD. I texted and asked if it was sold to me?? Hour later he says no...... Dang it. Learn to communicate folks!!

the exact reason i do not text when i want to buy something. talk in person and get a feel for things. texting has its place but sure not for buying stuff. and bought lots of stuff with a picture and my word.

It was advised on Facebook market place. I guess correct term is messaged the guy. First message I always give my phone number and ask them to call. For what ever reason he never called. Last 2 tractors I bought were off Facebook. Zero issues.

Too bad. That may mean a better deal is coming your way. By the way what happened with that one ton Chevy or Gmc?

I once told a guy about a tractor I was going to buy from another guy and told him where it was and what I was going to pay only that I could not make it there the week end witch was fine with the guy selling the tractor to me that next week end would be good. So I tryed calling him to let him know I was on my way hooked up the trailer and me an the boy went to pick it up only to fine it was gone. Ask the seller what was the deal on doing that and he told me well a guy showed up last week and told me that he was getting it for me. So I didn't know who got it tell later at tractor show and here this guy that I told about it that was a so called friend had it. So I don't tell any one now.

Yessir I conduct my most important business on text then it’s recorded not that one ever had much trouble in business but I have a few times

You were snoozin and that's why you lost it. Instead of grabbing it, you asked your buddies about it. If you really needed or wanted it, you should have moved on it. Don't blame others for your inaction.

Happened to me on a Farmall A. Everybody thought the guy that grabbed it out from under me was a Prince of a fellow and couldn't understand why I thought he was a rectal orifice.

I called a guy about a hay feeder the other day at 7:15 am. Told him I'll take it be down in an hour. He said Works better in the afternoon. Can you be here at 2. I was there at 1:45 and he had sold it in the morning and it was gone. He couldn't give a RAts behind that I drove an hour with a trailer for nothing. Felt like strangling him right there.

They way I look at is your word an a hand shake use to be something but not any more. If he was a good buddy he would of help me load it up. I take him as a two face guy and when he comes around I don't waste to much time with him. He still wants to be buddy's but I don't trust him.

Must not have wanted it very bad,I never cut my phone off and after about 60 years of buying and selling there isn't 1 hour in the day or night I haven't
bought or sold something. And I want to talk to the person I'm dealing with after all these years you'd be surprised how much I can find out in a 5 minute
conversation.

I've had good luck overall purchasing things online. But I've had a couple turn out like this whether I text, message, or call. Now if the seller wont commit to holding the item till I get there I pass on it. Some still sell it early. Makes me fell better to get a gas station coffee and Little Debbie cake on the way home.

That's too bad he couldn't find the title, that was a pretty good looking truck. You could always apply for a lost title though, but I also know the hassle that can be getting everything verified to get one. Been there done that - never again, especially here in Illinois!

Robcons, last 2 tractors I bought the
sellers called me with in 30 minutes.
Both on Facebook. One said he was
unavailable for 2 days but would hold it.
He did. The next one said no way he could
meet before Sunday afternoon, this was on
Tuesday. He held it for me also. I guess
if folks take hours to get back with you
it's a bad sign.....better deals ahead I
bet.

Sde.....well thank you for your judgement. I messaged the guy early in the day. While waiting around for him to answer I "asked my buddies." How the heck was I gonna " move on it" when I didn't have an address or had even heard back. Then while I was snoozing he answered back. Really gonna hook up a trailer and drive 60 miles at 8:30 pm? Even if my phone was still on? Once I answered him at 5 am I heard nothing back. Just got notification saying if was sold 6 hours later. Just a bit unhappy with lack of communication. He could have answered and at least let me know someone was coming to get it...... I've moved on. Another deal is out there. Merry Christmas to you.

Yep. Title missing was the deal breaker. No one could verify his story either. His grandpa fixed it and had passed. And the owner of truck had also passed.... Wasn't 100% comfortable with the story.......

I don't blame you. Sounds like a title search may have revealed something and you could have lost the truck and whatever you paid as well. Sometimes if a deal sounds too good to be true there's probably more to the story.

Of all the stuff I've bought recently, most starts with a text, if possible. Two items have had to wait for actual pickup due to my schedule or his, and each provided me with a list of names and numbers of other guys willing to buy it from me!

Surprised a couple of buyers by just handing them the asking price in cash, no haggle. I knew the value I was getting. The guy I bought the scissor lift from threw in an oil change funnel/can rig and four tall jack stands that he was going to offer to sell me, but gave them for the same price. I often take my 80yo Mom along for the ride, and she always does the interpersonal connection talk while I check out the item- I think she softens them up, and she really enjoys meeting the sellers and their wives. The scissor lift guy showed us his pelt collection, gun collection, coin collections, probably more than he should have.

Rob,

A few years ago I had a Boxer dog. She went with me wherever I went. She died five years ago and I still miss her. One of the things that triggers my
memories of her is when I stop for coffee and a Little Debbie. I get the little donuts. I'd share them with her and she really loved them. I
have a mixed breed Beagle now and he is entirely indifferent to the "don-dons". There's no accounting for good taste.

Me again. I'm sorry that you feel that I was judging you. I did not think that I was doing that. Maybe I missed something. Maybe you contacted him first and then posted your inquire here about ID ing the tractor. I thought that you asked here first and then contacted him, which changed the time line to something that ended up not working in your best interest.
Sorry
SDE

Sde, my apologies. My wife has warned me about saying anything until I've had a cup of coffee. She claims I'm a grumpy old man. Again sorry for the reply.
