This engine has always had a heavy diesel knock. The fuel pump is set right on the marks. I wonder if this is normal or not? It runs good and has good power.

Thanks, I will check the injectors. I had
the pump rebuilt about 400 hours ago. What
exactly happens with the injectors to cause
that?
Would bad injectors cause hard starting in cold weather? If it's below 40 degrees, it won't start.

Thanks for the reply. I had the pump rebuilt, so I wouldn't think that is the problem in unless they didn't do it right.

Injector gummed up or a bad tip not spraying the correct pattern or at the correct pressure will cause a fuel knock or miss.

As for cold weather starting good injectors could help but these tractors are not known for easy starting in cold weather.
If it has a thermostart heater you need to learn how to use it or install a block or lower radiator hose heater.
A good battery and starter that cranks the engine over fast helps.
