No Panic Stop

Sold this mower a year ago. Guy said he would haul it home in (on) his pickup as he didn't have a trailer. I loaded it for him and told him he better not have a head on accident or have to make a sudden stop. He called me after he got it home and said it all went well.

yikes, yikes. and with those crazy little nylon straps you could be mowed right in the cab.

Saw a guy haul a backhoe for a 40 hp Kubota on a too small trailer with one of those straps and a piece of 3/8 in rope. Said he had about 100 miles to go Didn't
watch the local news for a couple of days.

Just because it's sketchy doesn't mean it's going to end in disaster. Very few sketchy situations result in an accident.

Yeah, you can worry about what "MIGHT" happen but if you do you'll never get out of bed in the morning. If you realized how many times you escaped death just getting your coffee in the morning, your family would have to commit you to the loony bin.

That is hardly the worst load I've seen, or the worst I've hauled.

One time one of my salesmen was going to make a delivery to one of
his customers on his way home. Loaded a pallet of A325 structural
bolts into the bed of his truck. On my way out the door I told him to
shrink wrap the pallet but being the Mr. Know It All that he was he
didn’t. On the way to his customer someone cut him off, he slammed
on the brakes, the pallet slid up crushed his tool box and 3 small
kegs went through the back window. He wasn’t hurt but the repair
was on his dime. Soon after that he lost his company truck. Can’t fix
stupid.

Don't have to be driving. when I was a teenager my Dad and I had done some tree trimming. We put all the brush in the pickup first then together slung a large hackberry log up onto the load. It slid forward and right thru the back window. That was the early '60's and you could get a rear glass for a '51 Ford F1 pretty easy.

well when i am sitting in front of that thing i will not take that on road or hyway, unless it had a steel plate standing in front of it.
im pretty safety conscience for myself and others. them dam deer give you no warning when they jump in front of you.
