Using a Uhaul Trailer

There has been a lot of discussion about using Uhaul trailers to haul tractors. One poster noted that there is a choice for a tractor as the vehicle being hauled in the drop down menu on the Uhaul website. I had never seen this so I tried it and it works, there are no clarifications required to rent a trailer to haul a tractor.

Ford 2000; 3 cyl gas; 4/1 trans.....having no trailer, I have rented U-Haul car trailers to tote my tractor about and each time they could not find 'tractor' on their list so substituted 'Pinto' in their check list. Never had any problem with their hesitation to rent a trailer. That trailer pulled fine behind my 6-cylinder F150.

I made the mistake once of renting a car U Haul trailer to move a JD 3520, but the rails were too wide for the tractor to drive on. That was before the wheel spacers were installed.

Years ago My Dad bought a Farmall A in Chowilla Ca. He rented a Uhall trailer with a clamp on ball to his 56 Oldsmobile and towed it home 350 miles. All I remember is we made it home. Stan

Most tractors are heavier then you would think. I picked up a MF 65 diesel with my tandem car hauler, it was all it wanted. I saw a guy try to haul an Oliver 1800 gas on a tandem car hauler. He only made it about 6 miles from the auction site before that 1800 destroyed that trailer. I think your tractor may be just light enough to work on a car hauler.
