Running question

I have an 8N side distributer tractor that ran perfect this spring, but now it starts up perfect but has no power. It is not missing, but sounds like a hissing noise near the manifold. I thought maybe something built a nest in tailpipe and ran a long pole as far up it as I could when it was running but nothing came out.Would it be possible that chipmunks stuffed the manifold up enough with acorns that it is partially blocked? Might have to pull the manifold. Got me stumped

anything is possible with those varmints. had mice fill up 2 cyl's with wheat on flathead engine on combine. pulled head off cleaned and put together and all good.

Down here in Texas, fire ants crawled up to the weep hole on the exaust manifold on an SC Case. Filled # 3 cylinder half way up with dirt.

You could have a bad manifold or a sticking valve. To check the manifold take propane torch and wave it around the manifold with it running. DO N OT light the torch. If it sound different when you do that you have a manifold leak

Fall before last I was going to exercise my Super M before winter, probably hadn't ran in 9 months and wouldn't start, sounded like it wanted to but just didn't sound right, all the sudden it started belching stinkin, smoken feathers and a naked starling I think it was. Tractor is always in the shed so the bird must of came in when I had a door open

Look at the position of the throttle. With the engine off dash lever to fast, the throttle shaft should be spring loaded to the full open position.

Try removing the air cleaner hose for a test run.

If there is a vacuum leak it will be idling way fast and would still rev up but lack power and probably need some choke to run.

If it is whistling when you open the throttle, but will not make power, that is a symptom of a restricted exhaust. Try taking the pipe loose from the manifold, see if it makes a difference. Probably have to actually put it under a load to tell, don't just go by the sound.

Had chipmunks fill one muffler on my combine with corn so tight one whole side of the engine wouldn't run. Must have been 5 pounds of corn in it and you couldn't see it til I pulled the muffler off.
