Farmall SMD white smoke

Hi attached a video of the farmall SMD blowing white smoke.. blown head gasket? Old oil being burned off? Hasnt run in a few months but smoked for a while when first running and then stopped after 10 minutes or so..

If it is burning antifreeze I would expect it to have a sweet smell to the exhaust, you can even taste
it in the air. Cold weather can cause a diesel to smoke till it warms up. After it warms up good you
could shut it off and pull the spark plugs, let it set overnight, and then turn it over and look for
antifreeze in the plug holes.

just unburnt diesel. probably compression a bit low or injectors not up to snuff. see that lots on these engines. when they switch over to
diesel they switch over with no smoke at all when in good shape. that was the whole idea of gas start, to warm the engine and give a smooth
switch over. one minute or less in summer and the colder the weather the more it could run on gas.
how long was it running before switch over?

What is your connection to this tractor? In your first
post you seemed to indicate you are a possible buyer.
Is that you shown in the video adjusting the throttle
are you looking at it in person? Question being is that
you were asking about the price, I see at the end of
the video there is zero wiring and no amp gauge or
light switch that should be in the oval box below the
steering wheel. To me a $7500 SMD should be
careful restored and complete as possible with nearly
every detail matching how it came originally. I think
that tractor is more around the price range of $5000.
By the pictures it does look like it has very straight
sheet metal and a real nice paint job. This is just
someone pointing out some things, I am nowhere
close to even considering purchasing any variant of a
Farmall M by waving anywhere close to $1500 in front
of any seller.

If it smokes white on the gas side, the diesel fuel is not shutting off completely, see if the two position switch is falling in to the detent, on the linkage, you can just use your hand to see if it feels right, twist it it little !

Due to the poor description of the problem here I watched the video. He
made it sound like it was running on diesel, but it’s actually running on
gas. So all That smoke is diesel going into the cyl’s at the same time as
running on gas. The throttle is not closed off as I see him playing around
with it. So that means all is good and it’s operator error! as I say we only
get part of our info here and this happens lots. He did not say how it
switched over to diesel as that tells a story too.

It's running on gas and the and the diesel throttle is open. Pull the throttle back and let it warm up on gas, then open diesel
and throw compression lever to diesel and it will clear up.

I think it is the red paint that produces the white smoke. If you painted it Green then you would get yellow smoke. Have a good day.
