55 years today....took delivery of my 1966 Chevy Impala SS ......still going strong !! Ordered it from the factory on October 15th 1965 and picked it up from the dealer Dec. 9th 1965. I have done all the service work on it over the years myself....44 oil changes since new. Now we just drive it in the summer to cruise nights, parades, garage sales (has a big trunk)....about 4000 miles per year. Special memory taking my wife Bev home from church after our wedding 54 years ago. Rich

That is my favorite Impala ever built. Thanks for sharing. Love the car.

Similar story here but I'll have to give you credit for keeping records. I ordered a 1965 Chevy Impala Super Sport, 327/300, 4 on the floor-- without knowing what it would look like! I have no idea when I ordered it or when I picked it up or how many oil changes. It used to be a big deal keeping new models a secret. The anticipation was a big deal! Mine got donated @ approx. 125,000 miles to a needy lady at church who needed a way to New York city. Wish I had decent pictures.

Wow! Glad you kept it all those years. It is sharp. We still have my wife's 66 Barracuda 273/4spd. that she got new in 66. I married her in 70 so 50 years for us and 54 for the car.

gtractor fan..............small world ....I also ordered a 1965 Impala SS 327/300 ..4 speed....was going with my now wife who couldn't drive stick so I ordered the 1966 SS with automatic......soon after we were married she learned how to drive stick shift cars and trucks.

I asked my Grandfather which car he liked best of the ones he had owned. I was surprised when he said the 66 Chevy Impala. I am sure that their are quite a few of us who envy you for having done what you have done. Keeping a car from our past.

Other than the rims, is it all original paint and chrome, etc.??

I bet it is.

P.S.
Going to garage sales with the big trunk might not be the best idea, LOL.

I too a GM fan. My first was a 1953 Bel Aire White over gold 2 dr ht. with A.T. Traded that for a "fix or repair daily" which is what it was. Had a 1960 Bel Aire White over blue 3peed 2dr. ht.. Traded that for a 1963 Impala Cordovan Brown 3 spd 2dr. h.t. Have none of those now, just memories.

Nice car and story, wish I would have saved one of my old cars. Had a 64 SS Impala, 69 SS Camaro, 77 Corvette, another 64 2 dr. Impala plus a couple more I liked.

I was going with a gal when I got the '65 which made it extra special however a different gal and I married. She sat on the
console and shifted gears when I pushed the clutch.. wonderful memories!

Beautiful car, glad you kept it (and kept it up so well).

Several of mine got away, to my regret- favorite was a '57 Pontiac 2 dr. HT, also a '59 Ford Galaxie 2 dr. HT, '62 Tempest convertible, and my first car, a '36 Chev pickup, into which I installed a Chev 283 V8 the year after high school. A couple didn't get away- '66 Olds Cutlass convertible, a '48 Hudson coupe and a '28 Model A coupe.

The 36 Chev pickup was sold to my cousin, who parked it in the woods for the next 40 years. At his funeral, his son told me I could have it back. He called later and said it had broken in half when they pulled it out of the woods.

Great car.

I liked the 65 and 66 Impalas but liked the 64 better.

I had two 64 Impala SS models, a yellow and black convertible with 327/250 powerglide and a 327/300 hardtop with 4 speed. The hardtop was palomar red metallic (same or very similar to the pictured 66) with black interior.

Great looking 64 SS. My favorite classic Chevrolet.

283 badges but dual exhausts so must be a 4 BBl.

Also factory tach as was my 327/300.

Always wanted a 64 SS with SHP 409 but have as yet never owned one.

Up at my moms place there is a 1965 Chevy Bel-air in one of the shed she has. It has 72,??? miles on it and you can't find a spot of rust on it. It had been my grand fathers car up till he died. Then my mom got it and it has been parked since around 1987 or so in the shed on block. Even the seat are still in good shape. My nephew bought it from her

nice unit! glad you kept it. my neighbor has ha a 64 chev with the 250 6 cyl. 3 speed . i remember when he bought it. its a very nice car yet and shedded all its life.

Nice enough car, but too bad you didn't have something like a '67 Fairlane GT to go along with the Trumpet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad had a 65 Impala four door. First car he owned with air-conditioning. After he had over 100 thou, he changed to a 1969 Wildcat and I got the old Chev for a winter-beater. The same thing happened between he and I with the Wildcat. I sold both of them with another 100 thousand miles on them to collectors after I retired them to out behind the barn. My summer car was a 1970 Firebird. I put 100 thou on the Firebird and sold it privately in still good shape. No salt damage.

First car after we got married was a 1966 Chevelle with a 327/325hp. Man would that old girl fly, wish I had it back.

That is a fantastic car. My first car was also a '66. My aunt had a pristine 4 door and my father found a $300 2 door basket case. The 4 door was used as the example of what it was supposed to be, and I got to make repairs until the basket case was made right. I remember buying a couple of extra regulators when I brought a wrench to the positive battery terminal and a car part at the same time. I painted the car about the same color as yours. Thanks for sharing

A guy I knew bought a new 64 chev Impala hardtop and color was baby blue with white top. Wondered why he didn't get a bright color since he got it new. Two years 12000 mile and $1,200 later I owned it and thought it was a pretty car. The wife had a 64 chev Impala she had bought new before I met her so now we were a 2-64 chevy family.

Everyone says "I had a 55 Chevy " ,Yeah but you sold it in 62 cause it was getting old . You Sir have kept the car through its' time of devalue right back to a quality antique by longevity alone .Nice car !

About 1979/80 I was offered a 65 or 66 Impala SS with 2 engines, one more or less stock and one with a GMC blower on it, both 427 IIRC. Car was in great shape, white with a red interior I think. Oh yeah, $1200.00. Might as well have been $12 billion for me. Many times I wonder if I could have sold a kidney or maybe half my liver...
