On the cummins engine today . If you want some good gloves the orange glove works are good expensive but a pair will last all day even taking them off a couple times a day

I use the same glove but green they do last as long as you don't snag'em... I have got so use to wearing gloves I ware them all the time I am working no mater what the work... Local price is $30 a box don't mater I like clean hands...

My hands soak up the grease like a sponge and then they
won’t come clean . I wear gloves when I’m doing a lot of
mechanic work, usually don’t wear em doing farm work
although I should especially changing oil and greasing .
These gloves were 33$ for 100

We use gloveworks gloves at work, have used both the orange and the green, Great gloves... we buy em a case at a time.. last i looked it came out to about $14 a box..

So where is the coolant/rust coming from?? head or cylinder wall??

I saw below that was the one with the cracked block. I'd be concerned it may of cracked internally too ? Might be farther ahead to find a running engine and drop it in. Lots of Dodge trucks around with rotted out bodies. Every so often you see those engines for sale on craigslist here in Ohio. Likely less out in your area though.

I use Gold Bond Diabetic every day, but, the only thing that helps my cracked hands is putting Vaseline on them at night and wearing cotton gloves to bed. It really works.

This is a different engine . I didn’t want to rebuild the 53 block. It just so happened that the guy who runs cows on my summer range had this complete engine and I was able to get for nothing so it’s getting rebuilt

I looked at used engines and everything I can find is a 53 block . The engine you see here is not a 53 cummins block cracker . I wouldn’t give a plug nickel for another 53 cummins block

Almost down to the bare block hopefully tomorrow after we get done working cows . The little table is not a bad place to work I can roll the block over and back by hand when I need to tip it one way or another
