Just a few, dont want the tractors but
Id like to have that little dodge dump truck!

Yeah, the tractor prices are sky high. Good thing I am tight for cash at present so I don't have to worry about it.

I've noticed that too, I'd like to know what they really sell for because I doubt its the price they're asking, but you never know lol. I wouldn't even make an offer on something priced ridiculous high.

Well you picked a couple of sorta rare tractors, ask for the moon and see who bites. The gold means something to some, the 8 cylinder was such a mess there arent many out there if you want one.

Doesn’t mean they will get it.

Yes i know that, just the asking prices on alot of tractors are high! I know that dosent mean thats what they will get fir it.

So I see three tractors there: a 1456 Gold demo professionally restored for $45K, a 1568 for $35K, and Hydro 100 for $17K. Not sure if you are pointing out the fact that the prices for those "old" IH tractors are high, or if you are getting more specific and saying "Can you beleive they are asking $17K for a nice Hydro 100"? Can you get a 50 year old 100hp tractor for less than $17K? Sure can. Bet you cant find a Hydro 100 in really nice shape for significantly less than $17K. Same with the 1456 and the 1568. The 1456 is definitely a collectors item. The 1568 IMHO is a bit of an outlier. While "rare", if the owner is set on the asking price, I think the 1568 will still be on the lot next year while the Hydro 100 and the 1456 will have sold. The 1568 seems to be a bit overpriced. ALL THAT BEING SAID, it seems to me that your average farm tractor, lets say a 1086 or a JD 4430, on tractorhouse is priced about 20% higher than they sell for.

That's like a auctioneer, he will say who will give me 20,000, then he starts the the bidding at maybe 8,000,and ends up sellomg it maybe 14,000, it's his feeble attempt to make you believe it's worth $20,000 !!!

My son runs a JD store. They can't keep low hr. Good used tractors on the lot. Always looking for them. No matter the color.

I had an older salesman explain to me once..
He would take anything in on trade.. it didn't matter what it was or what he gave for the trade in...

All that mattered was the difference $$$$$..

Lots of those prices leave wiggle room for the salesman to "Work in a trade"

Those aren't too far out of line. There are sillier prices for equipment listed on the TH website....

^^^^The feedback that's out there is almost as amusing as their pricing.

The Gold demo, if it really is a goldie I'll be will get very close to the asking price providing that it's not a rattle can restro. If the engine, drive train and tires it will bring plenty of cash. Highly desirable in the collector market and in the Holy Grail department for die hard IH fans. Even the 1568 will go for a good price. Fella here sold one last year, rode hard an put away wet. Engine was shot but he had a good engine to go with it. Guy drove from someplace in TX to west MN and paid 5,500 for the tractor as it sat. Again desirable to both collectors and IH nuts. Would I pay that kinda money for those? No. At worst that 100 is a bit high. By about 50% if it's in good condition IMO. But it's not nuts high at 2 to 3 times the value that some guy with an old A or B JD/WD, WD45, CA/H or M Farmall and such. Add in your own for Case, MM, Oliver and others. I have seen people asking 3-5 thousand for decent condition WD45. Or the same money for a restored M. Heck a fully restored Famrall 1206 sold last year at auction for over 40 thousand. Went to a collector in CA. Another sold after that for very close to that.

And we can be honest. The V8 68 series IH tractors were a flop. IH really dropped the ball there. And because that word spread quickly they didn't sell well. IH built 2905 of the 1468 in 3 years. The 1568 sold 862. The 1466 sold 25,264 units and the 15 66 sold 7417. 86 series the 14 sold 21,117 and the 15 13636. Anyway you slice it that makes them a rare tractor. A provable goldie is a rare bird too. Rare tractors sell for higher prices.

Meridian Implement has a lot of crazy-priced things on tractorhouse. They seem to have a large collection of John Deere forage boxes, all advertised at 3x what they might be worth in reality. I think some of their stuff has been listed for years.

Agree on the JD row crops, had 3. Since retiring and retiring the JD badge, My Branson 65 hp, Cummins licensed 3.3 NA engine, runs 0.046 gallons/actual hp being used/per hour in 4wd, 16.9x34 rears,. Running a 10', 12 shank with 10" sweeps cultivator, in fairly loose, slightly damp clay with 3 rows of spring finger harrows, 2B out of 3xABCD gears at 2600 rpm runs about 3 gph with a much shorter end or row 180 turn.

(quoted from post at 17:57:58 12/01/20) Big difference between asking and selling price.

Not on Tractorhouse. Their idea of "wiggle room" or "haggling" is $200. Yes, two HUNDRED dollars.

If they don't get their astronomically high price, it sits there.

You'll notice it's the same tractors over and over week after week.

You show a magazine with asking prices. Now go look at Auction time and look at what things are really selling for. Lots of difference in the prices. Of course they have high prices. They have to pay for the advertising to that web site plus all the regular local ads and then any other overhead they incur in their daily business. Not trying to stick up for them all just pointing out facts not mentioned. There are people that will pay high prices for some makes and models. I would just use them so I'm not going to pay any more for a gold 1456 than a regular one to put in the field. I figure at least 10 percent less than the posted price for most things listed there. Tomlinson's are always on the high side of local prices on things I've found looking at their items.

It's the same way on Facebook Market Place (Yes, I know. No one on here is on FB). No matter what the item is, the price is astronomical on most of the them regardless of what they are.
