Rear tire done

I hope, anyhow. I got the tire off and the tube out, cleaned up the inside, it was better than I thought it would be. Got the tube back in, the valve stem is on the inside of the tire, what a PIA!! Debated taking the tire all the way off and turning the rim around so the valve stem is on the outside but I decided that was too much work and just put it back together. I thought I had the valve stem lined up pretty close when I mounted the tire back on, but the valve stem was sticking thru at an angle. I was able to jamb some pieces of 2x4 between the rim and the tire and get it back far enough to get ahold of the tube and pull it enough to line the valve stem up straight. Aired it up to 16+'s and let the air back out so the tube could find it's happy place and then aired it up again and let the jack down. Hopefully it will be up when I go back to the shed and then I can put the fluid back in. Fixing tires is almost as bad as plumbing!!!

they are fun arent they! neighbor was hauling in to the elevator about a month ago and got a flat on the 7120 magnum rear . called the tire guy to come out, he said you have to bring to him. ended up limping the tractor to the jd dealer and they got it fixed for him. several years ago i put a new tube in a rear, pumped the fluid out, sandblasted and painted the rim, got it re mounted and filled with fluid. was so excited i backed the forklift into the other tractor parked next to it and busted the valve off on the rear of that one. sprayed calcium all over. what a mess! a darwin moment!

You can buy a valve fishing tool at any parts store. It's a fixture that you can screw onto the valve and pull it through the hole. I just bought a new one at Orileys for 5.99. They are worth a bunch for any tire with a tube. I somehow lost my old one that I've had for 20 years. It will sure help getting that valve where you need it.

I started doing my own rear tire work a couple years ago. I had 2 rusty rims to repair. Saved at least $200, but spent 8 hours draining, mounting and re-filling the tires.
