Weight of sow

At Thanksgiving dinner my wife was telling brother in law we had a 3 year old Hereford sow, has had 2 litters, that weighed around 500 pounds. This morning I measured the sow, heart girth is 71 inches and from ears to base of tail is 71.5 inches. Is there another way to figure weight of mature hog besides 71x71x71.5 divided by 400 = live weight 901 pounds, no way I don't believe she's that big. I'll try posting pics

I have been away from sows for way too long but I would guess 600. The sows I worked with were different breeding and never got that big.

Maybe measure from the ears to the tail, when her head is up. It might be a few inches less an be slightly more accurate. Or put her in a crate and take her to a business with a scale. Oh forget the crate, put her on a leash and just walk her into a UPS store. Worked in Doc Hollywood

OK, with her head up she's still 64" long. That makes her 806, I still don't believe it. There must be a different formula for mature hogs.

I used to have a tape measure that had hog weights on it. I gave it my brother in law when he was single and told to carry it when he went to the bar. Dad always raised Hamps. I think she looks at least 650.

I look at that picture and imagine if she was a steer, longer legs, I see 650-700 lbs minimum. She isn't suffering.
