Poke here

So that’s how they did it. Just in time for the May Day parade and spring planting. Seems like a lot of drama in that factory, but that’s what you get when you hire Sergio Leone to do your ads. And what was Shelly Winters doing working there?

SV, Back in the early 80’s I helped my neighbor set up his Jamesway barn equipment exhibit. The local Belarus dealer had their tractors next to us. They were pretty crude looked like they built them with a hammer and anvil. Local dairy farmer bought an articulated one cheap power. I helped take their 50 ft silos down with a sledge hammer. Just like chopping down a tree a big hollow tree!

They sold a few loads of them around here in the 70/80's, I knew several guys who took on the dealership, about 1 in 5 had so much casting sand left in them they would eat the hyd systems up in hours,, some of them so bad they just junked them and used the rest for parts,, then the rear axle breaking started,, I was offered 8 of them with less than 250 hours with various breakdowns for 5K all had cabs and fwa,, I went and looked at them and decided at best I could make three running units from them, so I passed,, glad I did as a friend did take them he lost his behind on them,, the ones that went past 250 hours lasted better,, I know of none around here today, last ones I seen were piled at the local scrap yard, none had over 2K hours on them, I did run a bend in the middle 4x4 in Kansas a few hours a good friend there was trying out,, it had a low rpm engine and ran out fine,, it was the dealers demo unit, and had under 400 hours on it then,, my friend ran it two weeks but in the end decided to pass,, it seemed to be a far better machine than the smaller offerings,, a long time friend went to Russia on a church trip in the late 70's maybe early 80's he showed me pics of them in all kinds of apps there,, heck the roads seemed to have more of them on it than cars and trucks ,, so they were used some where a lot it seemed,

They are a few here and they are still running my aunt has one I think I’m going to try and get gas mfwd and a cab Would be nice for my snow plow business. One of my Friends had one bought it brand new in about 1992 and he beat that thing so bad i couldn’t believe it still ran . I’ve only ever seen one of the newer ones another guy I know has it .

The dealer had one of those big four wheel drives . I crawled in that thing and it made a Steiger look sophisticated.

I remember seeing a whole closed school yard full of them in Milwaukee. They took them off a ship and stored them there. Any damaged in unloading were parts tractors . The factory in Minsk was the largest tractor factory in the world .
