Howdy all,

So far I've only heard mention of Denglers as a rebuilder of spoked front wheels on my JD '41B.
Perhaps y'all might have other suggestions?
My current wheels are round and functional, but badly pitted, with bad valve stem holes.

Idea's to share?

Thanks,
Fr. Bob

You can buy rims with no centers. Cut your old rims off your spokes and weld the new rims on. I did this on my 35 b. I cut the old rims near the spokes the used a grinder to remove the rest around the spokes. Then the new rims went on with out any major gaps to fill in. Took an afternoon to do.

Well were lucky to have one that does that, but if your handy with with metal work, you can cut out the bad valve stem area, weld in a new piece, and drill a drill a 11/16 hole first, i think, its 11/16's been a while since i did some of mine.

We made these over from a 37 A JD. Used new rims, cut the spokes as long as possible and then chucked the hub up in a turning lathe. Turned the spokes to just fit the new rim and welded them in. We have a wheel jig that centers them and holds the hub where you want it for correct backspace.

I drill out the spot weld on front wheels.Use 11/16 or 3/4" bit. Plug weld the hole shut, grind smooth. Then weld any center in you desire. By drilling out the center, you can 'reuse' the good center somewhere else.Rerimed rear spokes too. after cut apart.lay both parts on a table(two sawhorses with a chunk of plywood). Carefully measure and support with blocks and wedges till 'true'. Spot/tack weld one place first, then get the rest after trued up,alternateing oppsite sides.

41B,might be easier to weld in new sections into your rims if the damage is not too wide spread. As said, bad stem holes can easily repaired by welding in a 'patch' and drilling a new hole in another location.

I repaired the rears on my '37 B. Welded pads to the rim to make up for slightly shorter spokes, then used body filler to blend them to the rims. Worked good, looked good.
