Big weekend on the farm

Started out bu hauling some hay on Saturday, needed some for the steers but the fields been so wet and muddy I haven't gone out. So Saturday morning while it was frozen I went and got a load. Didn't get any pics but the dc handled the job fine. Then cleaned the hog pen. That's what I bought the skid steer for and it worked great.

I need to get those gutters filled in and cemented, that will make things a lot nicer. I got the other end cleaned out and filled in but no cement yet.

Today I started by picking up a couple more calves. These are twin heifers so I got them cheap.

Spent the rest of the day reorganizing the sheds for winter. The skid loader makes that a lot easier.

Next weekend I hope I can work on the gutters on the other end of the barn and start with the cement.

Jon.... Appears you stayed fairly busy this weekend. So.... Do you later store your feed shown in the wagons.... As a precaution against rodents etc? I know it is a simple minded question to most .... Trying to understand your process with winter feed. Wingnut. Oh... Barns look really cleaned now. Skid steer really does its job huh?

The corn is in the wagons because that is the only way I have to store it right now. Hopefully next year I'll have something better.

Looks like fun those skid loaders are handy wonder how they do in deep mud and slime if you put chains on em? I’m jealous of that little herd of pigs I really enjoyed raising them .

Those new calves will be as fat and sleek as the others in a short time. I miss raising hogs but the wife don't want any more. She says at our age, we don't need any more to feed. She's right but I just don't want to quit.

Those skid loaders are perfect for packing wagons in a shed. With my wife watching so i don't smash into anything, I put 7 units in my shed. I have a spare bucket with a 1/2 x 3 flat steel bolted to the bucket with a pin hitch hole just for moving wagons, trailer, etc. Very good job Jon. Gary.
