57 years ago today

I don't think I will ever forget that day , we were in shop class. as I remember all teachers were called to office when shop teacher came back he told us what had happened. School was let out some after that.

I remember that well. Friday, November 22, 1963. I was stationed at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, and due to leave the Marine Corps in two days, on Sunday, the 24th.

After lunch on the 22nd, the CO, a Lieutenant Colonel, called me into his office and made a last ditch pitch to try to keep me from leaving. When he wasn't successful, we both relaxed and engaged in some general chit chat.

About then, the Sergeant Major stuck his head in the door and said President Kennedy had just been shot. Didn't know yet if it was fatal.

After I left on Sunday morning, the 24th, I had a 2 1/2 day drive home, towing a boat, so I listened to it all on the radio in my car.

Only 8 at the time so don’t remember anything of the day. History has shown that JFK was and would have been one of the greatest statesmen of our time.

I was a captain in the Army stationed at Yuma Proving Ground in southwestern Arizona. We had completed our morning tests and I was on my way back to the main post in my car when I heard the news. Almost everyone on the planet who was alive when that happened can remember exactly where they were.

Good read, Double Cross The Sam Giancana Story. Most believable explanation of both John and Bobby Kennedy assassinations. imho

I was in 3rd grade.

Remember the principal came over the intercom, said he had been shot.

The teachers went out on the sidewalk, huddled around talking and praying.

Later the principal came back on, said he had died.

I don't remember us going home early, I remember the teachers huddling up, crying. We were somewhat kept in the dark, a lot of questions but few answers until I got home and saw it on TV.

Several years ago I stumbled across a YouTube video of an interview with James Files. I bookmarked it so I could find it later. Today I clicked on it today to share the address, and it is now "Private." One more strange occurrence regarding the murder investigation. This is the only video I could open today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxtrFoh3Pao The original interview was quite long, and certainly tied together a lot of loose ends never followed up by the Warren Investigation. Whoever planned and carried out the murder of John Kennedy got away with it. The truth may be revealed many years after all of us have gone to our reward. Here is the address of the private video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr4vgHsmNEk

I was teaching in a country school not far from where I grew up. My mother called the school & told me to turn on the school's radio and have the kids listen to the news. She said the President had been shot & none of the news people were saying how he was. I think about that day every year. I wonder how many of the students that were there that day remember it.

I was in 6th grade and as some have said the principal came on the intercom to announce President Kennedy’s death. Remember some of the girls started to cry. School was let out early that day.

I was in sixth grade also. There was a knock on the door, the teacher answered the knock, then came back into the classroom to tell us the president was shot but no news on his condition. My sister saw Oswald get shot on live news.

Up here in Canada land, I remember the day. My father came to the school, one room country, and delivered the news to Mr Atkin the teacher. We were sent home after that. I remember talking it over with my class mate, we shared a common mile on the way home. It never occured to me till now that we didn't get a ride with my Dad. I was watching TV when Oswald was shot on camera. Sad day, sad time.

Remember it well, even up here in Canada it was very significant news. I was 8, but the impact was there. I can recall my parents telling us kids to pray for JFK during the Cuban Missile crisis. My parents had left war torn Europe a scant 12 years before that, partly because of the impending nuclear war possibility based on Russian aggression, only to have that threat follow them to their new home in Canada. To loose a peacemaker like JFK at that time was scary.

I was in college on my way back to my apartment, heard it on the car radio. My fiancee(later wife of 56 years) was buying a pair of shoes when she heard it.

I don't understand the big reverence for the Kennedy family. They got kicked out of England for selling illegal booze. Came to the States and were nothing more than the rum runners of the prohibition, with illegal booze, is how they got their money. Then old Joe Kennedy was part of the cause of Stock collapse in 29. Then fox guarding the hen house under FDR as head of the securities and stock commission. Then JFK was president, and Ted the drunk senator and murderer. So now tell me why I should think they are more than just Bolsheviks and murderers.

I had just got sent to the office for talking in study hall. Walked into the office, knowing I was in deep trouble and Mrs. Wiedner, the principal's wife told me to go get him, the President had just been shot. Saved my butt cause they sent all of us home and nobody thought about me being sent to the office. That was at Marysville High School in Marysville, Ohio.

My wife and I were in Metz, France. Got the news when we got to work that morning. We went into lock down, although I was allowed to go home. We lived on the economy in Metz.

We were listing to Armed Forces Radio live, when Jack Ruby shot Osgood.
