Where can I find the wide U-nuts needed for the front the hood? Their 5/16" threaded but extra wide like 1/2"

I have u bolts made up at a local truck parts store. They can make nearly any size/length/profile you can think of. SuperDuty Truck Parts, Newark, OH

I may be wrong but I have a hunch you are not looking for a U bolt as suggested by the replies you have received. Also I don’t know how the half inch dimension you gave could apply to a 5/16 U bolt. Would an U nut be a type of wing nut. Sorry, I don’t have a 1100 Massey just trying to help you out. Might try posting this on the Massey topic section here.

McMaster Carr may have them. Check with an auto body repair shop or parts store. They may have a source they can order from if they don't have any in stock.

If you are looking for ones to slip over the edge of the sheet metal on the hood and side panels try Mc Master-Carr. They have all sorts of nuts like I think you are looking for. I just looked under U-Nuts. then there are also wing nuts.
