Top two are of our new cub. Made a trip Fri to see Tracy Brown. Got a starter and radiator for our new Ford 851. And a bunch of other cool stuff. Planned to buy a farmall H too but decided we didn't need another big project. Asked if he knew of any cubs for sale. He got us in touch with a guy an hour south. Picked up this '49 cub. Starter spun a couple times then ground to a halt with lots of sparks. Got it home , wife took starter apart and cleaned it up. Took some emory cloth and cleaned the brushes. Cub fired right up. Lift works. Pto works. Tires decent. While my wife worked on that one I kept working on my dad's cub. It's starting to look better. Can't see spending $200-$300 on stainless steel letters for the sides of the hood. Wish someone made plastic ones. This ain't a restore show tractor. Just making it pretty for my folks to use.

That works out great for you guys, and preserves these tractors a heck of a lot better then they were likely to get. As much as one can appreciate a meticulous restoration with all that is involved, you're taking good care of these tractors and preserving, even improving their condition. That keeps them from going to scrap and they get new work assignments ! If someone wants to take things further, at least they have a good starting point. In regards to the show and tell aspect of this, while the paint might not be say professionally applied or what have you, even brush applied with some attention to the care of the application, makes them look pretty darned nice for photos and if on one of your jobs. Your customers, the public, sees that you maintain your equipment, which shows pride in what you do, this builds confidence in your customers. Sounds like you are having a great time with all of this, been fun to see all of it and the start up of the haying you are doing. It's also a great influence to others, and a nice contribution to this site !

Actually I've bought 2 running gears ths fall. This one is going to the guy with the kicker baler....he needs a longer wagon!

Grandpa, I have a 1948 Cub and I am amazed what work I can do with it. I have a lot of implements for my cub. One that is interesting is a Buzz Saw. It mounts on the rear and is powered by a 90 degree gear box. I also use my cub to plow my 300 foot driveway up here in Northeastern Pa. It totally amazes me. I have larger tractors if I need them but my cub is my go to every day machine. Just thought I would touch base with you and I enjoy all of your post. Good luck to you and all of your family.

MtMan..thanks. We sure like the cubs. Got 2 with belly mowers and we enjoy cutting grass with them. So quiet compared to a riding mower. The one we are painting is for my dad. We picked up a big riding mower trailer to go with it. It will be his firewood mover. I would love to have a buzz saw on a cub. Of course the fleet of Fords is tough to beat in the hayfield.
