Thanks for where 'here' is

As I sit here in south-central Minnesota waiting for a possible several inches of wet snow, I'm reminded to offer appreciation to those who clarify where "here" is when posting messages about snow, rain, floods, drought, temperatures, etc. Such messages lose much of their significance when "here" isn't clear from user name or content. With the change of seasons upon us, I look forward to everyone's notes about the weather, whether here or there, but please tell me where. :)

Just doing the same. I'm from Lakefield Mn and Rossow is a common name here. I always say that I'm from Lakefield, but I left there in 1965. I still have land there. I live retired in Farmington.

My standard reply. One thing modern view is good for. Register your location, as vague, or as precise as you want, and anything else you desire. [There are several choices, such as vocation, hobbies, etc]

I could say I'm from Rocklake, North Dakota, but I left there in 1957 when joining the U.S. Navy. I do appreciate those who give at least a rough idea of "from where".

There is also an actual lake called Rock Lake (two words) right next to the town. Note the town uses one name by changing the L to l and dropping the space. Probably way more than you wanted to know.

Actually I'm from Waseca County, MN now. (south central MN for those who don't know and now you won't need to look it up!)

yes. and if so inclined those who haven't could show their location on the YT Members map at ZEE Maps.

Bob,
You have said that before.
I would if I could but YT suspended that feature, evidently sometime after you.
The reason being too many YT members went bezerk when they perceived their town location was an invasion of their privacy.
So the admins decided to not allow anyone that joined afterwards to enter their location in their profile.

wjy, the second responder made that suggestion.

C'mon Bruce, that's a general description in your handle. More specifically, you live close to the Center of the Universe ..... LOL !!!

People from southwestern Connecticut would take that very unfavorably. They think THEY are the center of the universe. The universe revolves around THEM. In reality, they make their money in New York and New Jersey and go home and act like big shots. (;>))

I totally agree with you, I'm always wondering where the location is for the post. I'm in Virginia, central part of the state, been in 70's here, and going to have possibly 3-7 inches of rain next couple days,

Bill .... well it would seem then that there are at least 2 "COTU" locations .... ha! Perhaps even more ....

The wait is over!! We have 5 now in St. Cloud, and it is pretty dry. Good conditions to use a blower. Mine is prepped, an I fixed my neighbors last week. Jim

Stephenson County Il 1 and 1/2 from the great state of Wisconsin. I would move there in a minute , but I cant afford to.

Not everybody uses it, but I find the "Members Map" Onefarmer provides very useful when I want to know where someone is. I figure if their not on it, they probably want to keep their location private.

Mine shows up as S.E. Sask. in modern view but I see not everyone else's does. I guess I just assume most recognize the handle and remember my location (approximate). We have snow and its cold.
