Mecum Auction

Have a couple of over the top restored tractors. Thinking of selling them at a Mecum auction in Iowa. In case of inclimate weather, Do tthey have inside storage? Do they keep people from climbing on and scratching stuff up?..

Would appreciate your experience. Thanks

The tractors that I have seen that have come from Mecums have appeared to be pretty much scratch free.

So Gord, tell us (or better yet show us) what an over-the-top restored tractor looks like. I don't think a little rain or snow would mess up your tractor or it's value. Anyways, give us a preview .....

I would not mind seeing some pictures of these "over the top restored tractors".I would imagine they keep people off of the tractors since that could cause you or them liability if somebody fell or got hurt or something.Companies don't exactly go out looking for lawsuits,so they will do what they have to do in order to avoid that.

I'm taking a Oliver 550 there. Call them, they will explain it to you. They have 3 levels; Star entry, indoor placement, full page in auction catalog, star banner on website. $800 Feature entry; tractor placement in the auction, half page add in catalog $400. General entry; outdoor placement, text listing in catalog and website listing $100. I did the feature entry, waiting for my packet to come in the mail. First time selling there for me, I'll let you know how it works out. Chris

In June 2017 I just so happened to be working at a plant near Muscatine, IA. Unknown to me Mecum was holding an auction of a large John Deere collection owned by Ron Drosselmeyer. I saw the signs and stopped by, actually ate lunch there. His collection included 175 tractors many of them very nicely restored. The sale brochure is more like a dealer equipment sales book, it was about a half inch thick. Had a lot of details explaining the rarity of some of the models up for sale. I hopefully will attach a couple pictures of it. That is a water bottle lid by it to show the thickness.

I live 7 miles from Muscatine, if you're ever working there again, let me know, maybe we could meet up sometime. Chris

This is the one I am selling, I plan to drive it through the ring. If you are there, stop me and say hi. Chris

I'm thinking the attitude of the original poster is going to guarantee his disappointment with something or other.

I had a collection of John Deere Tractors and equipment that Mecum sold for me a couple of years ago. They are first class and run an outstanding opperation. I was extremely pleased with the way I was treated.

I have bought and sold tractors at the Mecum Auctions since they started with tractors in 2010. They are a first class operation and are very good people to deal with.

Wish I'd known that sooner, it's already consigned to the auction. I have another one I'm working on and will sell sometime, it's a 1963 no power steering.
