Went to take off shaft from brush hog got nut off but bolt would not turn broke it off - bolt had bent inside - 3 drill bits and half hour of pounding bolt out two bloody fingers is there an easier way to get bent bolt out ??

Yea, put a generous amount of grease on your telescoping portion of your PTO shaft so it easily slides in and out under load, or quit driving through ditches which bottom the shaft out.

Unless you're bottoming out the telescoping shaft or your splines are really worn out there should never be pressure applied to the bolt. If it doesn't drop right out something is wrong.

If the shaft and collar holes are wore bell mouthed, they will bend, then get stuck. re-drilling bigger is no good as it is way stronger when bigger. drilling and putting a hardened bushing in the shaft hole might be an option. Jim

Two bloody fingers is that all. I would have hit my hand and cut my arm at least four times. Plus said a few choice words.

If there is an easy way to deal with them. I have never found one. Some come right out. Some you fight for hours.
