Ran over my battery charger

A couple of days ago one of the tractors had a dead battery. So I drug out a long cord and small battery charger. Set up on the tool box on the left frame rail in front of the cab. After a few
hours,I went out to start . After it started I sat there for a minute or so. Put it in gear and started to move.. Heard a CRASH and felt a bump on the left rear wheel. Knew IMMEDIATELY what had
just happened. Duh.However it was in soft dirt and not damaged too much, just a little flat.I was able to pound out back out some. It still seems to work but is a bit noisy.I was reminded me that
as a kid,we had a battery charger that had been run over too. Was always bent up as long as I remembered. I think my brother still has it.

Delta,

I have to fess up to something similar.

Now, when I have the charger on a battery, I wrap the extension cord around the steering wheel as a reminder.

I ran over my pressure washer that was sitting in front of my truck. A couple of neighbours came in and one suggested we go and check the coon traps. We got in my truck and drove right over the gadget. I did some reshaping and it started up and worked. Did feel stupid though.

That stinks, don't worry I ran over a schumacher many years ago it still works the cords have been taped over due to cracks

I have taken the added step of doing double checks around the house and the barn for reasons like that. I have not had anything happen but as I have gotten older my reflexes are not so automatic when doing something like a repair and moving tools back to the bench.

I had one hooked to my sandrail once . I forgot and drug it down the road a ways. Another time I left the torch in my horse trailer and went to move the trailer. Unfortunately the tanks were behind my motorcycle and a few other things. It scattered stuff everywhere befor the hose broke. My friend sat and watched it all.

I set the cover to an outboard motor on the ground to work on it. Went to move it closer to the hose to test the repair. CRUNCH. Evinrude wanted $200. to replace it not counting $75.00 for the decals. Epoxied it back together but it never looked quite the same. You are not alone.

my charger was over 40 years old....had been run over once when
I got, and I ran over it earlier this year. it worked up til a few days ago, but now there is no spark at all if I touch the cables. Bought a new dewalt
figuring it was quality made, only to discover it was made in China. Still, seems like a good unit perhaps not 40 years good, though...or until I run over it too

What did you have for a sand rail Olliie? I built about 3 of them and hauled them to Waynoka OK. VW's

Check to make sure the fan still turns freely and make sure the input cord isn't shorted to the case. Don't laugh I bought one at auction where the strain relief had pulled out and the positive lead was shorted to the case. An easy fix and I had a nice charger for $5.00.

I had bought an old used one at a junk store about 10 years ago for $15. It started smoking yesterday when I hooked it to a battery. I got my moneys worth. Time for the iron pile.

I did the same as you--2 year old charger and ran over it with rear wheel of my WD9-- soft ground also Took cover off and straightened it out and works great yet. That was 49 years ago, Gary.

Schauer Chargers. Tough as nails! Like a Timex! CM Just leave the Wine alone until you lock the shop door for the day. Just saying

I left a charger on the track of my OC-4. had the battery side cover down and Jeff never noticed the charger and drove over it. After being run over by the dozer, it most definitely was not useable.

Last one was a vw 2180 high jumper frame. It was fun. First one was vw but not much to talk about. I have a manx fiberglass buggy now with a 1835 but never have taken it out. I also have a 68 empi sportster kit car that was my uncle's. My grandfather use to sell kits and empi parts. Someday I may play again. Cant find a side view pic.

I've backed into/over so many things in past 30 years that my neighbor offered to come over and take reverse gear out of everthing on the place.

The farmer i used to work for backed over his battery charger with a loaded semi and turned it into a space saver charger.

as a teenager my boss always said don't ever park behind any truck or equipment... one day he parks his pickup right behind the truck I had been driving.. he then proceeds to tell me to back the truck up and move it, he starts motioning me back..... CRUNCH.. i get out and look OH %&$T i had just backed over the front of his pickup.. I learned then to walk around before backing up.. he shook his head and knew he had screwed up... 2 days later he told me thank you???? he had wanted trade pickups anyway now he had an excuse.. ALWAYS DO A WALK AROUND

I forgot to unhook hyd. hoses when I backed away from the corn head this fall. Bummer. Amazing how far they will stretch before breaking.

Here you go

That one is very similar to mine. Mine is a little more closed in. I drove it year round with no top or doors. I had a vacuum tube I hooked to the heater pipe and ran it into my coat. One morning the windshield ice over so fast I couldn't see to get off the road. One Christmas das had a top and doors made for it.
