My friend stoped over with 2 round bales to go put out for his cows, so i went with him, been raining here since 10am, we came back stood around talking, so I plugged in the reddy heater, it runs great for about 3-4 minuites then it starts blowing smoke out of it, i did some work on it a few years ago that someone on here recommend, i cant remember what, anyway, any one have any ideas what could be wrong with it? Even if i run it outside, it runs a few minuites then goes out!

I guess by the looks of the 10 day forecast, I am going to install a new pipe on my boiler up the the ceiling jack and SS chimney. It is looking pretty poor. I was hoping to hold off lighting the boiler until election day, but it looks pretty cold for the whole period, and our first snow predicted tonight. Temp has dropped into 30's and the wind has come up.
It sure was a raw one today. I stayed inside and watched the fireplace burn.------------------Loren

Iv been running my wood stove insert in the kitchen on and off this month, but same here, ill be starting the wood boiler in the basement pretty soon. I guess 1-3 inches of snow for here tomorrow.

There was a place that sold parts for them and if you bought parts from them they would give you technical support. On mine I had to adjust the fuel pressure. Was thinking it was ready heater parts.com

I have a smaller version and it uses a spark plug for ignition. The plug fouled out and was doing the same thing you describe. Your model may have a different ignition system. Perhaps your nozzle is dirty and the flame sensor shuts the unit down.

I decided to look at my heater tonight,
cvphoto61107.jpg

I checked spark plug, check fuel filter blew out nozzel and adjusted pump pressure to 5 psi as on label on side of heater it was just over 5 psi, what i found when i pulled the fuel line out of the tank that it was barley wet, tank holds 13.5 gallons, theres at least 5 in it, so i propped up front of the heater and it stayed running for the 10 minutes i had it on, fuel looks brown, so maybe rusty, I think ill drain it tomorrow and get some new fuel in it, thanks for all the advice.

I have the next smaller model Reddy Heater, 110,000 BTU, it started flaming out after a couple minutes late last winter. I bought a new 185,000 btu DeWalt heater. I tried running diesel fuel thru the Reddy Heater a couple times. It REALLY didn't like it. I was going to give it to SON, he has a 20x22 ft garage at his apartment house he might want to work on some stuff in.
