I have found a five gallon bucket of diesel fuel works really well to keep the pump in good working order

We hold ours down in a 5 gallon bucket like you but use used motor oil and take and turn the pump when you first put it in so that the oil is in all parts. Never have had one not go right back to work come spring.

I fill it full of oil and turn over a few times to coat the internls. Then stuff a rag in each port to keep the oil in. Hang it in the shed for the winter.

Never used to do anything with em and always had to tear the pump apart and free up the rollers . Got this sprayer from a guy and it had sat for probably 20 years and he had the pump in a five gallon bucket of diesel so i just kept doing it .
