Old antifreeze

I recently did some cooling system work on my JD 4230 tractor that required draining the system. Since the antifreeze had been in there for many years I decided to refill with new. I replaced with coolgard and used the jugs for the old. I took them to the JD dealer I bought the coolgard from and asked if they accept it for recycling. "No!" I'm a little ticked because they have a large repair shop and must generate a lot of used antifreeze and I paid the long buck for it there.

Talk to your local town sewer head man. My local water treatment center allows antifreeze to be dumped down the drain and they treat it.

(quoted from post at 12:34:26 10/27/20) I wish I lived close, I need some for bucket mousetraps!
have used it for that and also to load rear tractor tires.

Here at my Ford Dealership we will take waste oil and Coolant
so you may want to check with a Auto Dealership

We save it to use for adding to ones that might be a bit low when we check each fall. Always have a hose or something that will leak a bit during the year them ad the old till it is change time.

Old antifreeze has lots of uses, some of which wouldn't be considered environmentally responsible in these current times.

My old radiator guy saved it and gave it to block masons to put in the mortar in the winter time so it would set up before it froze in cold weather.
He gave me all I wanted and we used it in old tractors with old copper radiators.
Never had a problem.
It could not be poured out on the ground, but could be poured in the city sewer system where he lived.

At the Deere shop, we were instructed to pour it down the municipal sewer. Now, if you have your own drain field I am not sure that would be the EPA approved method of disposal.

Before I quit the CASEIH shop, the new owners were collecting it for recycling but it just turned into a big old over flowing mess with their set up.

A ramp, a pop can on a welding rod so it can rotate, and some peanut butter on the can. They jump to the can, it rotates, and they fall in the liquid, and can't jump out. In N MN you need antifreeze, thy can jump off of ice.

One tractor has it for tire ballast. The current process is to store it in the used blue plastic drums you can get for 10 bucks or so. The next time I need some tire ballast I will have a supply.

Some Auto parts places will take antifreeze. I've most recently taken mine to VIP Auto (part of O'Reilly's) in town to get rid of mine.

(quoted from post at 10:51:58 10/29/20) Storm sewer works fine for anti-freeze.
otally irresponsible! that goes directly inti creeks and rivers and back to kitchen faucet! :x
