Ford 3000 diesel with hydrolic pump issue

I am having problems with the 3pt not lifting and the hydrolics. If the tractor runs for 15 minutes to 1/2hour they "awake" and work great. I was told that there is an air leak in the sucker pipe but can't see any sign of it. This is a 1969 Ford 3000 I changed the hyd filter and the oil a couple years ago. I saw a forum on "flow control valve 2012" that discribed my problem well but they never gave a final solution. When the hydrolics 3pt work they sometimes are jerky. I had the whole top off the rear axle, incudes the 3pt arms and hydrolic remote lever and it all looked fine. I put back together siliconed for gasket and nothing changed. What do I check for next. chesty

most likely a worn pump. A rebuild kit and replace all the check balls, and seals will allow the pump to pull a vacuum to get the fluid up.

thank you

if this has the pump up on the side of the engine there is a 0-ring in the pump housing that the suction line goes into but most the time it is the seal in the front of the pump that over the years wears and allows it to suck in air not bad job to replace it.. you can check it by taking a air gun and pressuring the transmission case to force oil in to the pump

Hi guys,
First of all thanks for your good advise.
I rebuilt the pump and a good thing since oil was coming in from the engine and the pump shaft was so bad they had to build it up and turn it down. I feel I did good job on the rebuild.
I still can't get it to hold a prime. sometimes it doesn't even get a prime. All new oil and filters. with the pump off I put the air to the rear end transmission case and the oil gushed out where the pump should be so I don't believe there is a restriction...?
Bleeding the pump it pushes out foamy oil then air and finally it builds pressure. The 3 point comes up with some hiccups when it quits and I bleed it again first quite a bit of clear oil then foam and finally air. I put the air to it as is and I didn't notice any leaks in the sucker pipe however it has numerous dents and scuffs on so maybe I should replace that pipe even though it sooms to be tight?

Shucks now I done some more investigation. I can buy a hydrolic gear pump brand new for several hundred. too late smart?

If the hydraulic remote functions when the lift does not its not your pump are an issue with sucking air... Test you pressures at the remote are hook something up to it for a test... The remote is the key to the direction you need to go...

Hey thanks for all your input. Problem solved when we discovered a pin hole in the suction pipe. It was right under the steering arm at the top so it never leaked oil. :)
