i have 434 ih with a cav pump, it will stop get of and bleed it and away we go for a while. i have checked the tank changed the filters. still does it. my question can this pump lose its prime even with a good supply of fuel or is it the tank or possibly the lift pump.it seems to last better if the tank is full.

I would go with a bad lift pump, since it runs longer wih more fuel in the tank.

What brand fuel filter? If NAPA/WIX make sure there's NO O ring in the filter top outer groove, that's the fuel inlet passage and must remain open. common mistake to put an extra O ring there as filter comes with an extra O ring for glass bowl applications too.

thanks for the filter info i did not add the o ring you speak of. my question is still will the pump lose its prime if their is a good fuel supply to the pump

Hi, had that same problem on a B414 many years ago, problem was a piece rubber that must have come off the inside of the hose from the our Diesel storage tank and it was blocking one of the holes in the banjo bolt in the fuel line at the input of the lift pump. So with a clean bucket under tractor remove the fuel line at the input to the lift pump and make sure you have good flow coming from the tank and if poor flow then blow back into tank with compressed air and if it fixes it then you have crud somewhere, the only permanent fix will be to find it and remove it.
