06 f150 heat issue

Does it switch to defrost and then to vents and then to floor with the selector knob? It could be making heat but the blend door isnt working. The blend door actuators do go bad in them.

I just replaced a air door actuator no difference followed the problem on YouTube it switches from defrost to floor any ideas?another actuator?

With it up to temp, engine running, heat on, blower on high, feel the heater hoses where they go through the firewall.

They should be uncomfortable to hold, one may be somewhat cooler.

If both are hot the heater is getting hot water but the controls are not directing air through the heater core.

If neither are hot there is a circulation problem, usually low coolant, possibly clogged heater core.

Could be electrical. Dash control or the actuator for blend door. Happened on my daughter's Taurus. Raise the temp knob but the air was always cold. Problem was they had to pull the whole dash to fix it.

Our ford edge has problems also and there is a way on the screen to like program them. I forget the sequence of buttons to push. It does a self diagnostic and fixes it. You could try pulling the fuse for it for 3 min and put it back in and see if that will fix it.

There is a TSB for the blend door actuator for this truck (TSB 08-23-6). You can google the TSB number and it will come up. The symptoms don't seem to match perfectly but it might be worth reading through it.

On the automatic heater controls like yours, the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) module has adaptive memory where it stores calibration data about the actuators. This can be reset by removing power to the module for 1 minute. When it is repowered, it will recalibrate itself. The official procedure is to remove the connector from the EATC module for 1 minute but I don't see why you couldn't just remove the battery cable for a minute and step on the brake pedal to discharge any caps just like if you were clearing the PCM adaptive memory. Keep in mind that disconnecting the battery will clear the PCM's adaptive memory as well. The EATC module is up kinda behind the glove box in the dash. Not sure if resetting the EATC could help but it might.

I removed battery cable
(ground)for 10 minutes and
hooked back up no
change..you said push down
gas pedal when running?
Shut off-key on push pedal
down?..thanks

Stepping on the brake pedal when the battery is disconnected just puts a load on the electrical system to discharge any capacitors that might still be supplying voltage to the electronic modules.

No cabin air filter on this model, Keep in mind, the only difference in MAX mode is the HVAC is recirculating cabin air in the MAX selection, and outside air when not in MAX. Drawing in outside air is usually not as efficient because you are trying to heat up cold air all the time.

The two things I would still want to verify is if the heater core is partially restricted, or if the temp door is actually moving all the way open/closed. If the heater core is partially restricted, usually this is noticed as cool or warm air at idle speed and hotter when RPM is raised up. Sometimes you can take the heater hoses off and back-flush the core with a garden hose, if not a heater core replacement might be needed.

I have found all kinds of junk fall into the HVAC box from people throwing things on top of the dash and dropping through the Defroster grill ( coins, screws, pens, bullets etc. ) these things can prevent doors from sealing when open/shut. This can be difficult to verify since you would most likely have to pull the dash and split the HVAC case to be certain. I would exhaust all other options before this one. The spline part of the door

I forgot something else. There is a self test diagnostic mode you can do by pushing a sequence of buttons on the HVAC module. This diag mode will also reset and calibrate the actuators.

With key off, turn key to "run" pos.
Press "Off" & "Defrost" buttons at the same time
Release both buttons and then immediately press "Auto" button
Release auto button and it should go into self test mode.

You will see the blower speed display scroll up then after 20-30secs if all the segments light up the self test is done and no codes were found. If codes are found you will see 2-digit codes displayed.

4play thanks I ran the
test and no code came up
screen was all lit up with
numbers and all the
diagrams floor ac defrost
-188 etc I'm going to take
it to a shop bite the
bullet.
