Price shock.

Hi, the auction of a collection of tractors and machinery of a late friend of mine took place in West Wales today consisting of around 20 tractors and old mainly Ferguson machinery and some modern day items.
How often are you shocked at the prices things make in your neck of the woods?
Most of the tractors were refurbished and were in magnificent condition. Some were in the original condition but as good as you will ever find.
To set the level, an illuminated MF dealer sign made £1300 ($1678), a TE20 diesel in original condition made £6500 ($8394), an FE35 refurbished made £5700 ($7361), an MF35x in magnificent condition made £8400 ($10848), a 135 again in magnificent condition with a cab that was about 4 years old made £15000 ($19372), a 158 4WD no cab or power steering that was refurbished nearly 10 years ago made a stunning £22000 ($28412) and 3 Field Marshals all refurbished, one with an original cab averaged around £13000 ($16789). By comparison a newish Case Maxxum with 2500 hours on the clock only made £29200, ($37711).
Can’t help but wonder if the nnalert lockdowns and restrictions that we’ve had here has had money burning holes in people’s pockets and when they fancied something they were determined to get it at any price. Your thoughts please fellow YTers?

could it be that we are finally smartening up to the fact that older tractors are still repairable??

I'm getting my 1950 Farmall H shined up for the Christmas parade. Not bragging, just fact; I always win First Prize. But the last few years I've had to tell the judges, STOP, give the awards to somebody else. They're all getting discouraged.
Point being, this tractor is 70 years old, heck the design is what, 85 years old? She'll still pull 2-14, my boys love to disc with her, bush-hog so smooth. Can't beat it.
Think about it this way; when you were boys, how much 85-year old machinery was still romping around and plowing and winning prizes?

With everyone staying home building products and materials are going up because people are working on their home projects. For many people this means tractors, so guys are using them more and looking for bigger and better. Guys are finishing up projects and looking for one or two for this winter. We will be able to live comfortably on our retirement with what we can get for our old tractors! Don't sell low!!!

Those are pretty amazing prices!
I'd sell my TE-20 gas for about what that sign brought!

How many 35/135's can you stuff in a shipping container? You may need to get a few container's full and have them sent to you to refurbish and sell;-) Those prices are pretty incredible.

A local collector passed away they had a two day auction a few weeks ago. His tractors did not fetch what I thought they should other than a AC D17. His hit and miss engines brought BIG money to me 50% more than they were worth, signs and other off the wall collectibles were way out of reach... Signs (remakes) like you can go the the Hobby lobby and buy were bringing 4 times what you could buy them new for.. He was a Diesel mechanic that collected and fixed old engines he was known as the best around I spec that's why his engines fetched top dollar.

Several tobacco baskets in bad condition brought $190 : SHOCK : I asked a gal that brought one were they worth that she said its the most I have paid I usually get them for $35.

No doubt the china virus lock down brought out the money...
