Minneapolis Moline 602 power steering

The power steering on my 602 works well to the right, but not to the left. According to the repair manual, this can be caused by a sticking control valve spool. I have taken the control valve apart, cleaned all parts, replaced all O-rings, and reassembled - no change. I could not figure out how to remove the relief valve (I assume it is the gray circle on the 2nd picture) - could this be part of the problem and does anyone have suggestions as to how to get it out? Also - the first picture shows a notch in the end of the control valve spool. Is that significant? (I couldn't find a reason or any particular reason to place the notch in any particular position.) Any information or assistance would be appreciated.

Your problem may not be the valve at all. The short pin that operates the valve may need to be replaced. That was the problem on my big mo 500
