Time to shop around

I use propane for my furnace, water heater, and range. I have a budget deal with Amerigas where I pay 10 equal payments throughout the year and then we settle up in June of the following year. Amerigas comes to my farm on their regular schedule and fills my tank without my ever having to call them. They "guarantee" that I will not run out of gas.

Because of their service and my paying on a budget basis, I end up paying more per gallon than I would if I called for service when I needed it, bought and paid for each fill, and worried about the level in my tank (especially during the winter). I am currently being charged $2.25 per gallon. I'm willing to pay the extra for the services that I receive.

Supplier for my small scale grain dryer changes price daily, maybe more often! Started season about $1.10. Last bill was $1.20. There are cheaper suppliers around, if I buy a tank. I've had good service from this outfit. Never paid for a hook up, so after 32 years with them, at my age, I guess I won't change.

You certainly are paying a premium for service. I am about 100 miles north of you and own 1000 gal tanks. Three weeks ago if paid within 10 days of delivery $1.19 a gallon.

I guess that's why I get the big bucks for mowing. Gasoline is refined north of me. It's piped to san Diego near me. and I still pay some of the highest prices in the nation. Stan

$4.29 here. Small user, we used a whole rompin stompin 20 gallons last winter. Used it for cooking only, and only on days when it's too hot to start the wood cookstove.

The only difference between that price and grill tanks is I don't have to run to town for it, and it won't run out at the wrong time. If I could handle 100 pound tanks I would do it that way, get them filled in town, and be able to shop for price a little.

This summer I did a prebuy for $ 1.24 gal. here in North Central Ohio. That was about the lowest I ever paid.

That is insane.
I filled up our 330 gallon tank on summer fill at around $1.75 in Oct.
Lowest I have ever seen it here.
