To drain the plain water out of my fresh engine today. I would wake up and think about it at 2AM or while I was at work and tell myself I gotta do that.
Gonna buy a jug of antifreeze and winterize it properly soon.
Just a reminder to you folks up here in cold country that it's time to get that done.

I need to clean out my small 3pt sprayer and I should look at the good 500gal sprayer I bought this fall to be sure they winterized it.

I think I have about 2 days.

A few years ago I accidentally left a freshly overhauled tractor outside the shop door with straight water in freezing temps. I went to a three hour meeting and when I came home and saw the tractor sitting there my mind went into panic mode. When I started it up the water pump would not turn but I still backed it into the shop with a squealing fan belt. There was no damage in the end, I am still using that tractor but I went through some anxious moments for awhile.

Pressure washers should be winterized also. I can remember before permanent antifreeze was used in tractors dumping water out of the John Deere’s dad had. That water sure was cold. We always but the plug on the seat. They used an alcohol based antifreeze which boiled out in the spring.

Try not to have a heart attack when you see the price of it. I picked up a couple gallons Saturday at $16+ a gallon.

M-Man ..... you are refering to the full strength stuff right? What amazes me is the cost of the pre-mixed coolant. The convenience comes at a high price for sure.

Advance auto had it for $7.99 last month I forgot about it till last night when I cleaned my desk off and seen the flyer... I am still good to go for now on my stash from the last year...

My other suppliers were right much higher...

My Dad said that on very cold nights, if they had to use the Model T to go somewhere, they would put kerosene in the radiator for coolant.
Some mornings, they would heat the water on the cook stove and pour it in in the morning to help get the engine to turn over.
