Posting a picture

Been on here for years, only posted pics a couple of times and still can't get it right. I can get the picture from my files onto the bottom box, but not into post itself. I know it's been mentioned before, what do I do?? Thanks.

I tried a pic too and post got rejected with the following message.

"We are sorry, your post contained one or more words that are restricted due to either YT User Community standards or are common indicators of spamming, cracking, or spambot activity. This was most likely accidental but for obvious reasons, the list of such words cannot be published. Please press back arrow and remove any obvious words or unusual character sequences that would not normally occur in speech."

There are 3 ways to post pictures in your post on this web site.

1) For this to work the picture has to be somewhere on the web.
Not a picture on your computer.
Get the URL address of the picture and paste it into the "Optional Image URL:" box just under where you are typing the post.
This picture will always show at the top of the post.
You can post multilabel pictures by places a , between the different URL addresses.

2) If the picture is on your computer you first need to put it on the web.
YT has allowed us to use their web server for this.
Go to the very bottom of the posting page and you will see "Upload Photos/Videos"
Click on it and another window will pop up.
Find the picture you want to post on your computer with this extra box.
Double click on it and this web site will start to upload it.
Once it is uploaded all the way you will see your picture at the bottom; AND (very important you wait till you see) the web address of the picture will appear in your post.
With this option you can post the picture where you want it in the post.
So you can have some words; a picture; some words; a picture.
Just upload the picture as you are typing the post where you want the picture.
YT limits the size and quantity of the pictures because you are using their server space.
This is why some have to make different post to have 2 pictures.
Their pictures are just to big.

3) This one is hard to explain because it involves typing HTML.
If I type it like it should look the computer will read it as a picture.
So lets try.
First the picture needs to be on the web.
The amount of pictures you can post is unlimited because you are just linking to them and not using the YT server.
Anywhere in your post that you want a picture type...

< img space src = " put the picture url here " >

OK look that over.
There is only 1 space in that whole sentence and I typed the word space where it goes.
The rest of the sentence should be all bunched together with no spaces.
Also one would reason you would omit the words put the picture url here and actually use the pictures url address.

I see John in La has posted a lot of info for you. I also see he mentioned the photo file size may be to large for it to post. The file size needs to be less than 5MB. I know I have found that pictures taken with iPhones are to big.

New users have to have 5 or more posts on record before the site lets them post pictures. Another option is to go down to the Site Comments Forum and ask YT Support for permission to post prior to that. You can try going down to the Test Forum and making several posts there, trying to attach pictures to each post. That may work after you make several, then post again here with your question. It may not work immediately after you get past the 5 posts, if not, you might try logging out and back in at that point.

Allen, welcome to YT! I see you were posting on the JD forum about a 1010 governor and likely wanted to post a picture there. For one since you are new your post count may have been to low. Now with four posts you may be able to post a photo. I also see the post title you used has 2 characters in it a semi-colon and a slash. On YT the forum software is real finicky about characters in the title. So it may have allowed you to post only words but when you tried the photo it was rejected as you saw because it possibly saw you as a spammer. If you are going to stick around here and post more I would suggest dropping down to the Test forum and create a post there with just letters or words in the title and see if you can then post a picture in it.

John, 99% of the photos I post are from my photos stored on my computer that I took with my camera.
Maybe I misunderstand what you are saying.
My wife says I do that a lot. LOL
Richard

Richard, I didn’t know it until John explained it and I did some looking. Sure enough when you view the photo in the little box before your submit your post you are actually seeing it as stored on the YT server. See the link to FAQ, go to the ..Formatting and Topic types.. section, and then click..Can I Post Images.. It is explained right there.

To add, which explains why a couple years back I posted a picture of something here on YT it showed up at first as the intended picture which was tractor related. Later I went back to the post and it showed a picture of cookies baking in an oven. So something in post or their server was allowing the wrong photo to show. I think if I would go back to that post in the Archives today it likely still shows the cookies. If I remember right it was during the time YT was having trouble with the system being real slow before they updated to the newer server.

Richard; Every photo comes from a computer some where; It is either generated by a computer program or taken by a camera then saved on the computer. Yes a I-Phone is a mini computer.

Pictures you have on your computer I can not see.
You need to upload them to the web for me to see them.
Photo bucket is one of the older photo upload sites.
This is how I can see a picture from years ago from a computer you threw in the garbage.
It is uploaded to the web and is there as long as that server is running.

So if I have a photo already on the web; photo bucket; facebook; or even a photo someone else put on the web like at a web site.
I can use 1 or 3 to just link to that photo.

So I take a picture with my camera/phone
I upload it to my computer so I can post it.
I now need to upload it to the web.
By using #2 I am using the YT server as my web storage.
I upload it to YT rather than facebook or photo bucket.
Now that that picture is on the web I can use the pictures address to let you see the picture.
The only thing different about uploading the picture to YT than photo bucket is Chris has the program automatically post the link to your picture into your post for you.

All I know John is that I have taken photos with my camera, stored them on my laptop in "pictures" as a JPG (whatever that means), and directly posted them here on the YT forum. To my knowledge I have never posted them on "the web" ...... whatever that means. Did they somehow make their way to the web before they showed up here on YT? I haven't a clue, perhaps you could answer that question for me. Below is an example ....

After the update to YT servers earlier this year, we can post pics that add up to 7.5mb in one post.

But you can also get around the limit above.......
What you can do, on modern, is upload one, then press preview, then upload another, then preview. This will overcome the size restriction as long as a single photo doesn't exceed the 7.5mb limit.
