At a customer's place, he said he wants a " barbless bob wire fence" why do folks say bob wire!? Lol wife is still laughing about it. Clearly said " barbless Bob wire.....

That is funny. He obviously had no clue. But people mispronounce words all the time so I suppose it should be expected. Supposably for supposedly, Calvary for cavalry, cannidate for candidate, ax for ask, Febuary for February, nucular for nuclear, real-a-tor for realtor, hoss for horse, brefast for breakfast, artic for arctic, tar for tire, prolly for probably, landslide for landside, etc. Now I on the other hand , refer to everything correctly. In fact, I was jist thinking about my GE HOT WATER HEATER that was installed in 1947. (;.)), (;>)), (;>))

Most likely they never saw it in print, and only went by what they've heard other people say. Regional accents can sometimes cause words to come out funny, "I had to warsh out my undies in the crick."

He's probably heard many people call them "bob wire fences" over the years and thinks "barb" and "bob" are two different things.

Here in WNY we have things "broken down" and grocery carts. In south Alabama things are "tore up" and they have buggies. When I hear a girl with a "Texas twang" I fall instantly in love! Used to run birddogs with an old boy from LA (lower Alabama) name was Mabry, I used to turn my video recorder on just to record him talking. And he said I talked funny! It's what makes our country great.

Tell him he can find the wire over by the metric hammers, metric screwdrivers, and the metric crescent wrenches and ask him if he wants the SAE or metric bob wire. As an aside, if I ever in my life hear someone mention using a spanner, I will .....

The one people really get confused on is the difference between a cotter pin and a single bow retainer pin, I really confuse them when I tell them there is also a double bow retainer too

That fence wire is actually "barbed" wire. The first patent in the United States for barbed wire was issued in 1867 to Lucien B. Smith of Kent, Ohio. Most commercial food establishments that have a dish washing machine have hot water heaters. Most of the water cannot legally be hotter than 130 degrees. Commercial dish washing machines require the hot water to be "boosted" to 170 degrees.

We had a young lady working at the nnalert testing site ask us if we lived in a congrut setting.
We can only assume she meant congregate but just told her "no".

Blinker fluid, here you go. They have it on Ebay. Lol

(quoted from post at 11:03:16 10/09/20) But what if they really used a spanner?

I spent 2 years as an onshore and offshore driller in the Middle East. The English got there before the Americans. Spanner is all they knew over there. A number of my fellow Ex-pats came from working on North Sea rigs.

Regarding the "Bob" wire; I'd tell the guy it is on the shelf next to the Larry wire, the Moe wire, the Curley Joe wire, and the Shimp wire. Have a good day. Guess I'll go paint on my tractor if it isn't too windy.

On this side of the pond we have similar stores where you can also
buy left-hand hammers, skirting board ladders, spare bubbles for
spirit levels and chocolate tea pots.
Seriously we are and hopefully are still two great nations separated
by a common language. To illustrate this cars have bonnets, wings or
mudguards, a boot and some still run on petrol. And of course to
remove these items you will need a SPANNER!!!!!!!

Cheers chaps and ladies.

Had a friend from NC. He'd go visit his Mom for a few days, and when he came
back to Montana, we couldn't understand him for 2 weeks!!

I've always been amazed at how many people have Allis Chamblers tractors. If I ever have too much money, I'm going to take an H Farmall, paint it orange, and stencil Alice Chamblers on it.
