Kubota L5040 fuel solenoid

Hello, is anyone familiar with the fuel system on a Kubota L5040 compact tractor? The engine dies suddenly. The main paper type filter (not spin-on) was blocked. It has been cleaned as much as possible whilst awaiting a new one. There is plenty of fuel reaching the lift pump but not coming from it so we suspect that perhaps the Ll has failed due to working against the blocked filter. It has already been replaced once. The engine is stopped by turning the ‘ignition’ key off so there must be a solenoid in the vicinity, but we cannot find anything which is vaguely cylindrical with wires attached to it. There is one wired item nearby but that is more of a sensor and in the timing casing. It does have key-controlled current going to it. Can anyone tell me where the solenoid is located? I have never seen a remote solenoid before. The only wired item near the pump is the one mentioned above .
Thanks in advance for your help.

Might want to try orangetractortalks.com and/or the Kubota forum on tractorbynet.com.

DAVID your L 5040 solenoid is integrated into the rear of the injector pump. Three wires, one hot when you mover the key to START that pulls the fuel plunger, then power by another wire flows to the hold in coil when you release the key to the run position. Once the key is moved to off and no power a spring pulls the plunger into kill position.

Hi jm. Thanks for your reply. Ok, understand if the solenoid is within the housing at the rear end of the main pump but surely there should be evidence of some wiring going to it. The sensor in the timing cover has 3 wires, black and yellow, red, I think, and green possibly. It’s held in by a single 6mm screw. The sensor end appears to be black plastic and is around 5/8” in diameter, there is no indication of any moving parts or ports for fuel flow.
A Kubota loader is fitted so this makes it difficult to see around the inner side properly.
Any further thoughts would be very welcome.
Thanks

David I spoke without looking. You L 5040 fuel control solenoid is on the front of the timing cover , if you are sitting in the seat would be on front cover high right. Held on by two small bolts , nothing is going to jump out of place of get messed up, if you remove the holding nuts and have some one work the key back and forth you can see if the solenoid is working. Should work as I describe in the post below < My direct e-mail [email protected]
