Axle grease caps

Lost another grease cap this morning off my gooseneck flatbed. 100 mile trip on reasonably smooth interstate. Last time I've tried swelling them out a bit and a punch to make dimples to grip better. No luck. Bearings are tight and hubs run cool, spindle not too far out to prevent them from seating fully. I guess next step is cleaning the mating surfaces real well and gluing them on with gasket maker? Other ideas?

Hammer it down on a trailer ball.

If you can find something the right size to sit down on the ridge, all the better.

Keep after it, it will stretch enough to be tight.

My hubs are 2.72 dia. and I checked the other ones, one was so loose I could pop it off with my fingernails. So I just ordered a set of 4 with the rubber plugs in them off Amazon for $15 and they be here Friday. They have a wider flange than these, more area for the blue goop to grab on to and being new they might fit tighter to begin with. Thanks.

Had a missing one on a wagon I acquired a few years back. Auto supply did not list a suitable replacement. Found an OTC medicine bottle when cut in half fit pretty well. Painted when I painted rest of wagon, has held up well for several years.
