Got done scattering chicken 🐓 manure about 7 and then headed out for an hour long tractor drive. The ol ihc and allis chalmers harrow combo is really working this field down

Hopefully can get some pictures in the light

Dads gas 88 Oliver was fun to ride along in the evening, the bottom of the muffler was a pretty bright red pulling the 3-16 Oliver trip plow. Was shooting a bit of a dull flame out the pipe as well. Couldn’t see it in the daylight, and dad didn’t work in dark much, but it was neat as a kid to see.

I was discing with an LA Case years ago at night without lights.
Was trying to get wheat in before a rain.
Buddy was riding holding a large flashlight.
Almost did not need it as the flames were about a foot tall coming out that straight pipe.
Another friend on a JD 620 was pulling the grain drill.
That was a fun evening.

Mr. SV sir. If Mr. Deere were here today you would make his day. As it is, he is surely smiling from his grave......you DO make a good argument for buying JD products. I had 3, 4010, 4020, and 4230 with cab. All hard workers and reliable.

When I was a kid we would bale alfalfa at night and I could tell when the round baler was about ready to tie when the flame started out the stack about like that. We never seemed to have all the lights working on any tractors we had.

What is really neat is to plow with an LP gas tractor at night. The blue flame will grow to more than six inches tall when she's pulling hard.

Dad has told about plowing for my uncle when he was younger and they were all working off the farm and going to school at the same time he would plow with a AC WD-45 at night and if a clear evening wouldn't bother with lights and could see the flame out the pipe.

pretty neat but the down side is that is unburned fuel burning in the exhaust.

Just an indication as to how hot LPs ran......for the operator....another reason I only had one....the 4020. Obviously this one is a diesel....with it's RED fuel cap, not to be mistaken for the radiator cap!!!!

None of our tractors did it growing up of course the 4320 was usually on the plow because it had lights that worked and with a turbo there is no flame to see

I did a little disking yesterday too. It was originally chem fallow and I've had the cattle pasturing on it all summer. 9 head can't keep ahead of the volounteer oats though so I had spiked some of it a few weeks ago and wanted to at least smooth out the spike job. The old Massey 360 disker cuts nice and smooths out the cultivator furrows. 2090 idles along at 1500 rpm in 3 high. Scenery was worth stopping for a picture.

(quoted from post at 20:40:11 09/30/20) Thats is a pretty picture. Do you ever use the discer to seed with any more?
I don't think I have used the seeding attachment on the disker since I got the Bourgault air seeder in 2003.
