Just bought 8n for tractor. Trying to find year model. I did find 8n4683 above starter. E120 stamped on transmission. Imwanting to do a complete tune up on it. I have oil filter, oil and a few other items. Question on the oil bath breather filter? What do you reccomend? The mesh or canister? New to me but older tractor. First tractor after so many years of hard work manually. Just need some help on this first tractor.. thanks

Ah but even if built in 1947 an 8N would no matter what still be a 1948 tractor just like right now you can buy a 2021 car or truck

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I'm sure others here will. If not, scroll down the page and you'll find another forum specifically for the N-series Ford tractors. Plenty of experts there who should be able to help you.

On the oil bath air cleaner. Clean old
oil out of cup. Leave mesh in top half.
Pot some gas through it. Spray it with
carb or brake cleaner. If it looks clean
it's good to go. Fill cup with some of
the oil you drain out of motor. Easy to
maintain. You will love your new tractor!

why would you use the oil you drain out of motor ??fill it with new oil less then a half QT. that way you can check it to see how dirty it is never seen anyone use old oil but each to his own
