My Harvest Helpers

Picture from way back in 1994 of my harvest helper nephews. The little guy in front is my main trucker at harvest now running the 71 Loadstar.
Rained yesterday shutting us down for a while it looks like. Down to the last 110 acres of wheat now. After a few midnight-1:00 a.m. runs I guess a rest will be welcome.

(quoted from post at 08:01:07 09/27/20) Pretty good looking pickup though. Dodge used those same 6 bolt wheels in the 50's.
Thats an L130 IH early fifties model. Its been parked a few years now but there is talk of getting it running again. It used to be the main grain hauler on that farm. All the grain hauled from the combine to bins and later to town some nine miles away. About 90 bushels at a trip.

(quoted from post at 08:31:32 09/27/20) Say your sticker cold war motors last video that is some funny stuff going on there!
For sure. Some great Canadian content happening at the coldwarmotors channel on youtube. Naturally I had to buy a t shirt and a couple of stickers.

When the wheat was finally deep enough for you to see it above the sideboards, the IH finally rode decently. You never had to be worried about not having enough springs under the rear of a '50's IH 3/4 ton.

True enough, the 3/4 ton rode like the proverbial lumber wagon empty. Interesting that the much heavier sprung Loadstar rides quite smooth even empty.
30 years ago. Me, my dad and brothers and two nephews. Little guy in the red hat is my main trucker now.

Yes Ron. I am the old guy in the family now. It still amazes me that the old 1600 Loadstar is on it's second generation of drivers in this family now. It was trucking grain here years before the nephews were born and still looks just as good as it did years ago.

Great looking picture. Love the old IH pickup. I have a 52 in the shed that has been in pieces for over 40 years. Maybe someday I will find time to put it together.
