I have a Ford Golden Jubilee that starts and idles great. I can let it sit and run for an hour but when I drop the back blade and drive it it stops after 15 minutes. I have to let it sit for an hour or so then it will start up again. Any ideas what I should look for?

Or a bad condenser which when it heats up shorts out, then is OK when cooled down. I have seen a couple of them.

Time to learn how to do some simple trouble shooting.

#1Fire it up and run it till it dies.
#2 the moment it dies check for a good blue/white spark at the center wire of the cap and at all 4 plug wires and make sure it jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more
#3 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes and 2 is better and yes catch the gas to look for water/dirt etc.
#4 when was the last time you serviced the air cleaner and dumped the mud and water out of it?

Post back what you find

My vote is clogged fuel tank cap (vent)....remove the cap and run to test, or ignition coil. Never figured out the mechanism on a coil aging and the thermal problem that age would attribute. Several possibilities but never took the time to investigate.....moving from gas to diesels, sorta eliminated the problem. Wink!

Thank you all for your response. I will check them out when I get back up to my cabin where the tractor is. I will post what I have found out.
