3010 John Deere hydraulic leak

Just purchased a 3010 gas and when I got it home I realized it has a Bad hydraulic leak. The small inspection cover by your right foot as you sit on the tractor is where the fluid is coming out. When the cover is removed while the tractor is running a lot of fluid comes out, especially when it is revved up. Any ideas?

I'm experiencing difficulty visualizing the inspection cover by right heel you're referring to on a 3010. My 1st thought is trans/hyd system is over full.

I suggest you post a photo. Problem is new members with less than 5 posts are blocked from posting photos to help limit spam posts. I suggest to go to "Site comments" shown on lower LH of home page & ask moderator for photo posting privilege's.

Thats the one

Is transmission overfull of oil?

If not, likely the transmission input shaft seal and/or the seal between the PTO clutch shaft and the transmission input shaft is/are leaking.

As I recall, the clutch inspection cover underneath is not sealed tight, your oil in the clutch housing should be leaking out down there unless the drain is plugged with debris.

Could the hydraulic system be overfilled -- with rainwater? That's exactly what happened with my Ferguson
TO35 after the shifter boots failed. Before I even tried to wake the TO35 from its 20 years of idleness
outside, I drained all the fluids. About two gallons came out of the transmission. It's a good running
tractor now.
