That ain't nothin...now you can get a Dodge truck that can haul 1300 pounds and go zero to 60 in 6 seconds and only cost $90,000! Progress, huh?

The gossip was that they wanted to sell the business, so anyone who
bought it could still use the name Ram with their own name. With it,
would have gone the exclusive rights to the Cummins 6 cyl diesel.
I still have a Rampage, that I should dispose of, and the remains of a
Dodge farm truck with a hemi engine. Also a 1925 Dodge Brothers rat-rod.
To Fiat, the Dodge name doesn't have much heritage value. Jeep is different,
but still, their interest is to have as much of their own content as possible,
so as to keep their companies working in Europe.

There are no "exclusive" rights to those Cummins engines. They are used throughout the commercial medium duty trucks made by Freightliner, Navistar, Peterbilt, and Kenworth. The 5.9 is a popular engine. I drove one many times in a Freightliner FL70. Good power and bulletproof. The darn thing would pull Long Island 6 miles into New Jersey before you even had to drop a gear.

Miner09,

The last year of Dodge Ram trucks was 2010 model. Had to do with the "stimulus". If the car company had a loss, they qualified for government money. The truck line was profitable, thus they dropped the Dodge name and became Ram. That made Dodge eligible for the handout.

Sad to say it, but their lawyers and CEO's had a sharp pencil.

cdmn, where are you located? My son may be looking for an old hemi, 331 or 354 (?). Truck engine would be fine as he wants to put it in a 1946 dodge P/U.
