Thoughts On Belarus 1025?

Against all my better judgment I am considering buying a Belarus 1025. It seems to have some kind of a fueling problem, when we crack injector lines, only two of them causes the engine to run worse, than what it already does that is. It has some kind of a home brew lift pump, however I don't think it is working.

Either way, I know a diesel fuel system can be an expensive thing to fix, and am keeping it in mind.

Anyone know anything about the tractors in general? From what I've found, 4cyl turbo diesel, 4wd, cab, and that's about all I know. Overall the tractor is in pretty decent shape, but it has been sitting a couple years, and no one knows much about it due to a death in the family.

What do you guys think? Roll the dice or run? Thanks!

Bryce, I have only been around one.
A 57 HP that a friend bought to pull his sawmill.
It ran well and you would think it was making fuel running that mill.
Very easy on fuel consumption.
I am sure others will chime in on mechanics of one.

Another thing to keep in mind, is there somewhere fairly local to you that can supply parts for it? Also do some research and see what parts are available for it and cost. I personally have only seen a few Belarus tractors where I'm at but they may be more plentiful in your area. Just my thoughts.

Many Moons back and old friend became a dealer for them . This old friend asked me to come up and run one plowing . It was a 560 , Noisy ,clumsy to drive . He also had one of the big four wheel drives that must have been a take off of a Russian tank early design . I ran the one for a couple hours and had my fill . went home and brought my 460 Farmall up with my four bottoms just to show him and old Farmall was better . Kinda made him mad when i ran up behind him while plowing and passed him dropping back in the furrow ahead of him and lapped him again on the next round.

Well I have been running g a 420A since 79, can't complain any worse than the common brands, abuse is abuse if noticed, look it over good as you would a known used brand, the brake and throttle linkages can stick with use and sitting still, also check the front spindle bushings. Watch the movement with turning the wheels side to side, that the wheels are not or tend to lean out or in from worn bushings or swivel bearings damaged, the front U-joints should show signs of greasing, 2 per front drive axle, also the spindle itself has a grease fitting, on the inside face area. Check the bolts [4] going upward into the framework holding the front axle in place are tight, maybe a bit different on the newer/larger tractor?
One thing to ask the family? or whoever if there is a wooden box somewhere that came with the tractor when it was bought, spare injectors, fuel pump gaskets, belts, certain tools, accessory gaskets, steering box seals, light bulbs, fuses etc came with each tractor from Belarus, at least mine did.
Hope it helps.

Bryce I've worked on two of them over the last 20 years. I wouldn't take one if it was free. Don't walk away run! There was a dealer here in central Florida in the 90's and we would see them turn up at equipment auctions from time to time. I never saw one with worn out tires!

Been around a few pretty simple to work on . The ones with the twist stop shifter are a pile to run but if you ever figure it out they are not bad .

I ran a new 840 for two days back in the nineties. A little rough around the edges, wanted around twenty thousand for it. Would have bought it if I had had the cash. Haven't seen one since.

We had a 520 Belarus way back when then an 825. The good part about Belarus tractors is they’re cheap. Then it’s all downhill from there. Not trying to be mean just honest.

nly one I ever saw was sitting in tall grass & looked too new to abandon, so I asked about it. Farmer said he was still waiting for PTO parts for it. Never did see it move.

RUN FAST I took one in on trade,, allowed 2500.00 for it,, it had a nice Allied loader with grapple on it,, I was going to junk the tractor and sell loader as it was worth a grand more than I allowed on trade then,, a guy came in and really wanted it bad,, I told him it was a pile of junk,, but he insisted on buying it,, I got 3500.00 and had to haul it to his place about 5 miles from my shop,, he ran it a year maybe two just to move round bales,, he worked on it constantly,, starter, hyd leaks, charging system ect,, then the whole front axle snapped off,, he offered it back to me for 500.00 with the loader,, I did not even want to haul it home again,, another guy I know who fixes/buys sells a few tractors a year picked it up for 300.00,, I sold him the full set of service manuals and parts books I had for it for another 300.00 when he welded the front axle back on and took it to a consignment auction two States away,, said it was the worse investment he ever made but was dang glad to see it gone, I could have bought four of five of the 825 fwa models I think they was from a ranch who bought them new, all had less than 600 hours on them,, they wanted 1500.00 each for them,, I laughed,,, told them to take them to a auction far far away junk from the word go

Friend bought one that ran top photo for 400$ With a loader my neighbor bought one brand new with a cab ran it for 20 years and beat the living crap out of it and he could ruin an anvil with a rubber hammer he sold it and bought a Kubota if the Belarus wouldnt have been beat so bad he would have been better off to keep it

We still have a dealer near by, and there are many old Belarus tractors still running around here. This being said, I don’t know any full time or commercial farmers that are buying them right now. That’s not to say that they aren’t any good, just the main line dealerships have better financing and leasing programs, and not too many farmers have 150 Grand to dump down on a new tractor. The Belarus tractors have all parts available back as far as 50 years here in Canada. Not sure why parts distribution in the USA isn’t as good, but never any issues getting parts for these tractors in Canada. A friend of mine has a Belarus tractor he bought new, and has 10 ,000 hours on it now.

Now that's odd, Bruce. A few hundred miles west of you there are none to be found, even in the scrap yards. One dealer here at the time....mid seventies....sold a lot of them. Go figure....hmmmm.

If it's cheap enough, and you're not depending on it to keep your animals from dying of starvation, it could be a fun thing to play with.

Don't get hung up on this whole "local dealer support" thing people keep harping on. That's an old idea, one whose time to die has long since passed. We have the Internet now. You can order any part you need from just about anywhere in the world it needs to come from and it will be on your doorstep in less than a week.

They were very regonal . Landini came in and sold a bunch of tractors for about 2 years then they disappeared and all the tractors they sold never did hear why

That's an old idea,...". Really? So where are you going to get access to all the test equipment & info to read all the diagnostic/test port data plus ability to reset & program all the onboard electronics of modern tractor???

All I 've ever seen was pictures of on and never heard anything good about them. I'run not walk away from it. Than again I have all the major brands for parts with in 20 miles of me in any direction.

Lots of mean iron with no finesse whatsoever. Clumsy and unhandy but, good on fuel and if you get a good one, very serviceable. A lot of them sold around here 20+ years ago and some folks seem to like them but, the majority of them appear to have become barnyard ornaments...
