Is it just here in NWiowa, that the bugs havent been bad at all this year? Havent even hit a June bug on the winshield. Mosquitoes weren't terrible either. Farm chemicals maybe?
 
Remember when we routinely cleaned bugs from the windshield at fillup? I never have to clean mine. And apparently the birds are starving too. Very few do I see year around even at my feeders. If it is farm chemicals, it ain't working on gnats and mosquitoes.
 
I am not out in the evenings very often, but haven't noticed many bugs this year, had a few grasshoppers for awhile but they are mostly gone now. Did see quite a few praying mantis and several butterflies.
 
We have lots of lightning bugs here right now.
A few gnats this year.
Almost no mosquitoes.
No June bugs or Japanese beetles this year.
Biggest change this year so far is the lack of wasps.
Very few nests around.
I did find a yellow jacket nest near one of my shops.
Gotta soak that one soon.
Honeybees working like crazy.

Dung bugs or tumble bugs I have not seen one in fifty years, likely others have not seen one in a lifetime. When little I could find them often
 
Very few here this year. No cicada songs, I've seen one katydid and two mantises. The deer flies and mosquitos were scarce as were grasshoppers. I have been seeing more honeybees each year lately. I see more and more hives each year, it's a good thing.
 
I'm in North Texas and mosquetos haven't been bad here either. I bought six or eight cans of off this year and I'm still on the first can. They only bug that has been bad this year is horse flies. In the time it takes to get through my front gate I usually pick up a half dozen in the cab of my truck. Helpful though, I wait until I'm a couple miles down the road before I put the window down and let them out.
 
SE-MICHIGAN. Bugs have been almost nonexistant, only a few mosquitos, lots of lightening bugs, less than normal wasps, hornets, and almost no horse flies.

Then again we went four weeks on .2 inches of rain.
