Checking Craigs List for free things. I see a free pressure washer posted 19 minutes ago. Needs carb repair. It was close, If I hurry I can get it before someone else grabs it. I am ready to go. Then I stop, I don't need another pressure washer that needs repair. I already have two that have a problem. Something about free means I need it. I got a free MF one time. All it needed was two rear tires, and wheels a front spindle and wheel, a injection pump. one cylinder was full of water. What a deal, but it was free. Stan

all my stuff works...........................sort of......................some ya just gotta fiddle with more than others!

was just noticing yesterday that those 4 weed whackers hanging on the wall will never get used by me again. Might as well list them as a package deal and see if I can get anything for them.

Sounds like me with 4 wheelers. I needed one so got 2 disassembled to make one good one. In the meantime bought another one that wouldn't start, CDI box and it was going. Put the two together so had a spare. A friend had a small one that had a problem, he couldn't remember exactly what was wrong. I couldn't let it sit so took it home. Cleaned carb and it ran good. Then adjusted clutch and it shifted. I don't really need more than one good one but keep looking on CL. Could sell one but then my others might break down. Just hard to turn down a bargain

Good afternoon: I think many of us on YT have the same illness: We feel compelled to fix thing! My cousins are like that, seems to run in our family.

I certainly have a problem with getting free things, 4 free tractors, 4 riding mowers, a sickle mower, BCS rototiller, utility trailer, chinese pit bike, a push mower, 4 weed wackers, a disc, a ground drive manure spreader, running gear, and a plow and running gear I still need to pick up.

I am not going for anymore free stuff. Neighbor had a nice looking John Deere L111 Lawn tractor that he had parked next to his shop several years ago and took the deck off and laid it in the iron pile on the other side of the shop. I kept looking at it every time I went by his place. Finally last fall I asked him what was wrong with it. He said all it needed was a new starter and he couldn't keep spindles in the deck. Well, conversation led to this and that and finally he told me I could have it if I wanted it, he had tried to sell it but nobody would buy it. Hauled it over here and started working on it. Came down with cancer a couple of weeks later and it sat outside the shop door till about a month ago when I got well enough to work on it again. The original bill for it when he bought it in 2005 was 1700.00. After I got the deck straightened and powder coated, the new starter, fuel lines, four new tires, two belts, two spindles, decals, two new coils, two sparkplugs, air filter, oil filter, and new carburetor, and the attaching parts for the deck , I have at least 1700.00 in it and still haven't started it to see if it runs.

Was given a Honda-powered pressure washer a few years ago. Owner said the engine ran fine but it "wouldn't make pressure".

A quick inspection revealed the garden hose inlet screen was plugged with debris. A minute spent cleaning the screen I had a nice running pressure washer - I've used it regularly ever since.

Similarly I have been given portable generators, several lawnmowers, a half dozen riding mowers and several snowblowers, all DOA. I was subsequently able to fix every one for little or no $$. I now use them myself, have given them to kids/grandkids and have sold a few. For me it is good (and rewarding!) fun.

I got a free 1994 Toyota 4 wheel drive pickup. Completely rebuilt the front end and repaired badly rusted frame. Wife said "Well if its free its worth saving up for "

Not much free stuff on CL here, and when I do find something I want, or think I need it, is 150 miles away and I wont spend the time! I have way too much stuff.

The first free house was a real nut job, no wonder it was free. Finally had to take it back.Daughter brought home anoughter free horse a few years ago. It will probably be here until one of us dies. The grand daughter spends a lot of time with it, and another one, so I guess that's a good thing. At least they are paying for the feed, and live close enough to take care of them. Grass hay at over 20.00 a bale I don't know they can afford them, but that's not my business. Stan
