I would think if it was ordered to tow planes around an air base it would have been a MI. With just an extended drawbar, orchard/under slung exhaust, street tires all around, maybe full fenders. Being 1947, was there not a butt load of "surplus" WWII Jeeps, and other equipment to be used up?

This one, a M utility more likely was instead only used for air base grounds mowing.
