I need to replace the single double acting steering cylinder on my 2940 but cannot find one. Any suggestions. The cap end has about a 4 inch offset. These photos are the best I could get at the time.

I couldn't edit so I'll add a reply. The ring groove in the rod end of the cylinder cracked while installing a new retaining ring. The cylinders I have found don't have the offset or extension on the cap end. If I cannot find one, is there a way to convert to two single acting cylinders?

not a JD fan but can't you take it to a hyd. shop and they sure should be able to fix it they cut the end off a ram for me and weld a new one on

Jeff, welcome to YT! Looks to me like for $790 you
can be back in business with a brand spanking new
one from JD. If I Google the part number AL60895 a
lot of options come up. That number is the new
alternate number for the axle that takes an 18”
cylinder, there is a wide axle option that takes a 22”
cylinder. Might try someone like All States Ag Parts or
Abilene Machine for used. Please double check the
part numbers before ordering. If you search the JD page by model for 2940 you will be able to view all the ft steering options for that model.

Thanks. My dad dealt with the dealership and the only one they could order was too short. Hopefully they goofed up. I’ll check it out myself. Gotta get it going for the last hay cutting. Thanks again.
