Permatex/ Cork gaskets

I am putting a new core in a F14 Farmall radiator. I often use Permatex gasket sealer on paper gaskets, but am wondering if it should be used on the cork gaskets that use used between the core and the cast iron housing? Any thoughts?

we use the permatex red spray sealant at work when building bolted header radiators and we use nothing but rubber/cork gaskets.

The red Permatex is called High Tack. I have used it on cork gaskets for many years. It is similar to aerosol contact cement. You apply it to one side of the gasket and to the part which you would like it to stay on if you need to take it apart again. It helps you to to keep the gasket in place during assembly. Last time this came up a number of guys here were using it.

silicone is made from Sand,, aka Dirt,, I use it on nothing running in or in contact with oil, antifreeze ect,, as I do not like throwing dirt in things, it also is a very poor product as it is used by many,, it does have its sues though,, just not in a radiator,, like said Copper coat/high tack spray is good products but also has its limitations and apps,, High Tack would be my choice also for your app on paper gaskets,,

I remember this stuff from grade school (see below), hard remembering most of it but it did come back after some thought. Yessiree, that dirt is pretty complicated stuff ..... LOL !!!

F. S. Kipping coined the word silicone in 1901 to describe the formula of polydiphenylsiloxane, Ph2SiO (Ph denoting phenyl, C6H5), by analogy with the formula of the ketone benzophenone, Ph2CO (his term was originally silicoketone). Kipping was well aware that polydiphenylsiloxane is polymeric whereas benzophenone is monomeric and noted the contrasting properties of Ph2SiO and Ph2CO.[3][4] The discovery of the structural differences between Kipping's molecules and the ketones means that silicone is no longer the correct term (though it remains in common usage) and that the term siloxanes is correct according to the nomenclature of modern chemistry. Silicone is often confused with silicon, but they are distinct substances. Silicon is a chemical element, a hard dark-grey semiconducting metalloid, which in its crystalline form is used to make integrated circuits ("electronic chips") and solar cells. Silicones are compounds that contain silicon, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and perhaps other kinds of atoms as well, and have very different physical and chemical properties. Compounds containing silicon–oxygen double bonds, now called silanones, but which could deserve the name "silicone", have long been identified as intermediates in gas-phase processes such as chemical vapor deposition in microelectronics production, and in the formation of ceramics by combustion. However, they have a strong tendency to polymerize into siloxanes.

It also shows up in a oil sample test as silica aka Dirt entry seen it more than once at places I worked when the Blue Goo mechanics worked on something,, of course I have dug it out of many machines in engine oil systems, radiator tanks and hydraulic systems parts,, works good to plug a hole,,,
